Do I have to watch Dragon Ball Super?

me and a friend wanna play Dragon Ball FighterZ but havent followed Dragon Ball Super except the 2 new movies ( Battle of Gods & Ressurect F ). Is Content of Dragon Ball Super in the Game that I don't know of I haven't watched Super?

There are a couple of characters in the game from Super, yes, but only 2 that aren't in Battle of Gods or R:F. Couldn't tell you if that'll affect the game's Story mode obviously.

Goku Black and Hit are the only characters that you won't recognize. DLC will probably bring more.

another friend that watched Super said i could start at Episode 28 if i want to watch super because the 2 movies are basically the first 27 episodes. Correct? Might go through Super before Game release.

most of the stuff in this game is from dragonball z, only a few charecters from super are in the game

I started watching DB Super on last week just because this game is coming out and it's pretty good. You will enjoy it if you enjoyed DBZ many years back.

If you have watched those two movies you can skip to episode 25 or 30 I think. At least Battle of Gods had same plot than DB Supers first 14 episodes with little different things and I got bored since I knew what would happen. I haven't watched Resurrect Frieza movie, but I bet it's the same plot what happens on series episodes 17-25 or 30. I can't remember precise episode numbers.

if you really want to watch super for the new characters, i suggest you start watching from 28-41 then 47- 67 and if you really want to get up to date 77-128.

Super is garbage, tbh, and you'll only find out the background of one of those two characters. But if it gets you in the mood for FighterZ, go for it, I guess. Just don't expect quality content.

Yes, your friend is correct. There are few humor episodes between of Beerus & Frieza episodes, and few minor things change from movies but you will get hang of things quickly by just starting watching after Frieza.

Also, Story is new, it doesn't follow any of the known storylines and is largely based on Z apparently. So I don't think it's important to have been following Super.

Watch Super, it's fun. Just skip the first two arcs as your friend suggested.
