If all else fails, I remember there being some bug about a year ago where EAC didn't load, and starting up any other game that uses EAC and starting up DBFZ while the other game ran would be a temporary workaround, but that seems to be a different issue altogether.
For the sake of it, try and see what happens if the game is installed somewhere without a symlink. You never know.
Edit:
Figured it out for me. I use junction links to migrate game folders to external hard drives/second interior and have a junction link point to the new location.
This keeps my C drive space free and Steam from thinking the game is uninstalled causing the game to have to rediscover/verify files again when I move them back(or just play them off the external drive which works great). Latest update of EAC doesn't seem to work with junction links and wants me to have the games in my C drive. Same problem with Dead by Daylight and Dragon Ball but Vermintide 2 which is also an EAC game still works fine off my external drive.
For Honor as well but I didn't test that sheet just uninstalled it bye bitc.
The reason I do this is because some games these days are meaty and can take up lots of C drive real estate and I'm not in the mind to uninstall them then spend a few hours downloading 30gigs when the fancy strikes me to play a bit of Dead by Daylight. Shame this is affected not sure what having the game files on an external hard drive have to do with anti-cheat.
Luckily not many EAC games out there, and they generally aren't large titles and clearly not every title will be affected but Dead by Daylight and Dragon Ball did for me even after EAC reinstalls and verifying files.
