Black, Hit, and Beerus are definitely the essentials. The only other noteworthy characters to add from Super are: Kale/Caulifla (or Kelfa), Jiren, Ribrianne.
Most of the other Tournament of Power Characters can be added as assists. For example, Jiren can have Dyspo/Toppo, while Ribrianne can use the Kamikaze Fireballs.
I can't see Whis and Vados coming even though they are interesting characters. Maybe Champa, but there hasn't been much material for him to go off of. He's an awesome character, but Beerus is just the one we all know and love the most.

I watched the entire DBZ TV series and it is nowhere near as good as DBS.
DBS sucks in the beginning, the later episodes are far better than DBZ.
It is stupid to make a DBZ fightinng game for 2018, there is no justification since DBS has more characters. Dead characters as a reasoning is not valid since DBS has Frieza.
DBZ is utterly stupid with nonsense fillers, when a good scene is about to happen it cuts to some nonsense with Vegeta wife and others arguing over nonsense. This is why DBZ Kai had to be invented, not to mention the voice acting in DBZ was the worst of any anime. DBZ Kai and DBS has the vastly superior English Voice Actors aswell as OST.
The OST in DBZ is terrible beyond words, the Kai and DB Super OST is light years superior

Or should I pick DBZ where they had to make a Kai version in order to solve the terrible voice actors, terrible sound tracks and remove all the useless fillers that plagued the series.

Yeah I always loved this scene of Beerus and whis talking about Goku, the music is crazy good ooh boy. I am gonna make a video of the Vegito fight a proper video without the fillers and one that isn't cut short and one that still has the Japanese voice acting. There isn't one on youtube yet from what I have seen

IF after watching this a person still cannot understand why Vegito needs to be in DBFZ all I can say is DBFZ isn't for them.
Vegito is in a class by himself, infact they should make it that if you pick Vegito then you are only allowed to pick one other character and just make Vegito hella strong.

Beerus and Golden Freeza Arc: Why would I watch around 25 episodes when I could watch the higher quality movies? And does anyone actually remember Purple Vegeta Arc? Remember 'Hurr I pulled a Spirit Sword out of my ass and killed an immortal god even Vegito couldn't finish'? As for Tournament of Power, it is literally saiyan ex machina over and over. DBZ characters had far more unique attacks than DBS characters. I agree on voice acting being far better in Super and Kai, but do you remember when Z came out? Also seems like you're the type of fan that just watches the show to see the saiyans get the new form. I advise you to watch the original Dragonball.
