And as this thread points out, there's a little bit of oddity with regional pricing that makes the FighterZ base game much more expensive for people in places that normally get reduced pricing.
I still think Dragon Ball FighterZ is worth the asking price because it's Dragon Ball and because the game looks hella fun, but some people have a valid reason for thinking that it's expensive, and that should be fine provided that they don't use the price as an excuse to be jerks (because in the end, it's really up to the publishers to decide how much their game is worth, and the game is neither a commodity nor forced onto people.)
P.S.
People's perspectives are probably also colored by the respective games' treatment of DLC characters. Xenoverse 2's base game had at least 60-70 characters available, so not having 9 additional DLC characters doesn't feel like much of a loss. FighterZ, on the other hand, will probably have somewhere north of 20 characters, which makes the base game feel much more gutted if 8 of those are locked behind the DLC paywall.
This game will be dead 3 days after release... Kinda expensive.
This game will have active player base in all regions long after release...It's cheap.
Also peoples who want to be competitive very much have to try out each character by themselves and usually also program them in training to master countering their moves.
The casual fighting game players do not have to buy the DLC, if they feel that their experience in playing the game will be lessened by the pricetag + DLC content, then they probably will have a ♥♥♥♥ time on release. The answer to the problem these people are having is to buy the game when everything releases altogether in some sort of bundle at a discounted price about a year or so after the initial release.
There is nothing wrong with the pricing of DBFighterZ.
Commonness of overpricing doesnt makes overpaying less harmfull for wallet.
It shouldn't be the fact. ASW has a very healthy roster of games under their belt. I trust them to deliver an honest product.
I think it's the fact that the other editions cost ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS.
Seeing as we're getting 8 characters, that's like $5 per character.
So yeah, the game is quite expensive if you want the DLC characters as well.
At launch XV2 cost US$/€ 49.99 base, 74.99 with the season pass (or £ 39.99 / 59.99). Just about every fighting game has had similar pricing, from Tekken 7 to Marvel vs Capcom:Infinite.
Very few games have a standard price tag of $/€ 59.99 and those are titles whose wealth of contents is in a whole different league. Very few games also cost as much on PC as on consoles, as is the case with this FighterZ.
Pre-order bonus also ranks as one of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I've seen in a long while.
Next, some will come and say we're lucky we're getting this game 'this cheap'...
