Also, don't bother waiting for your wife. She heads to bed after you have pressed the "sleep" button. Eventually she will become pregnant, & you will then afterwards see a new addition to your family. Talking to your wife, & complimenting her, is still a good thing. And maintain raw foods in the pantry, so that she can have the resources to cook higher level foods. She will cook items during evenings, & rainy days.
There are multiple postings in the pinned forum: A quick guide for new players..., which address both these issues.
NOTE: Do not sleep a week, over the end of season time. When close to the end of the season switchover, sleep only one day per time. Sleeping a week at this time, can cause fall planted crops to disappear before the next spring.
NOTE 2: You can press the sleep button at any time. So if in a rush to finish a bit of days. Just collect the eggs & milk, & then head back up to bedroom to "sleep" a night, once again.
Some players will leave "gift" items in the pantry for the wife. But once married, such things seem of less importance.
Don't forget you can purchase other greenhouses, which are located at various locations around the map. Growing greenhouse plants are a "long-term" enterprise, but all the other greenhouses have automatic watering systems, so they are mainly a plant & forget, until harvest projects. You can view the status of plants in the TAB screen.
Growing & then upgrading foods, then storing them until the September Festival, is a very good revenue option. I also regularly talk to NPC's, to see if any are willing to "trade". I then buy all raw food items they may have, which I then upgrade, or leave in pantry for the wife to make better foods. Selling some back to the NPC's for a steady income stream, & then storing the remainder in the pantry for the upcoming Festival.
There are still projects you can do while waiting for the harvest to arrive:
- Collect mushrooms & berries.
- Enter contests such as the drone races, or mushroom picking contests.
- Note: I often mow around "known" such contest areas, which will make it much easier to pick the mushrooms during the contests.
- During travels around the map, pick apples from the various groves of trees. NPC's don't seem to care if you harvest from the trees in their areas. You can then make these apples into various better items to sell back to them.
- Locating any remaining Treasure chests can be done during this time.
- There will still be a bunch "jobs" that become available.
- Plant flowers around your properties, & adjacent lands. These will provide some additional SP, & the nearby bees will enjoy them. You can also harvest the flowers to sell at the September Festival or use for gifts.
So you can have a whole bunch of things to keep you occupied while waiting for your crops to mature.I personally like to mow all my properties. At one time I had my own personal "contest" to mow as much of the map as possible... I usually use the old drag (cultivator), to mow large areas. Just be cautious near fields, since there is often overlap between the crops & the weeds at field edges. On your fields you might only reduce the field crops, but on other's areas you may also lower your SP by encroaching on their fields. This is the reason I often run an extra pass around fields while doing any cultivating.
