Extremely boring start - or am I missing something?
I've been playing for 2 hours already. First, I had to fix like 5 different buildings, which was move click move click. Nothing interesting, very boring. Ok, then I fixed someone else's house to get the tractor. Alright. Next, to get the plower, I had to plow and cultivate someone else's field. Also not very interesting, driving around a field for 10 minutes, twice. But ok, that's farm-work, at least in the beginning.

Great, now I have a plower, a tractor, and finished repairing my farm. Time to start making some money! Managing crops! Interesting stuff! But no... I'm still missing a harvester, hay cart, fertilizer, and grain cart. Ok... lets get that grain cart, I'll need it to sell my grain I guess. Alright, going to the warf, guess what - I have to repair two more buildings! Well, it's boring busywork, but I've gotten good at it so I can do it in 10 minutes instead of 20. Fun! (not).

Done. Got the cart. Need to get it back to my farm. Alright, click tractor to fast travel back to farm, then click grain cart so I can fast travel with my tractor to the cart... But no! You can't fast travel when riding your tractor! So I have to drive my slow-as-snail tractor all the way to the wharf, grab the cart, then drive all the way back! I estimate 20-30 minutes of boring driving!

Is this really the way the game is supposed to play? Am I missing something? Please help. I'm almost 2 hours in, so decided to stop and find out if it actually gets better, and if not refund the game. What do you say?

This seems pretty normal for these sort of games to be fair, there probably isn't a lot of actual playable content, so they stretch it out with these mundane tasks? I don't mind these cheesy simulators for these tasks, they help me stay calm and chilled so I don't mind it.

But quite frankly if you don't like the game and you are within the refund window, grab a refund. no point keeping a game you don't enjoy and spend the money elsewhere.

I agree with Duke, If you want to hunt things, shoot things, and not do the grind of farming, then by all means pass on it.

But if you want to find all of the missing chests, do all the events that pop up and get small awards for completing them.

Perhaps manage to capture a mates heart , have a family and keep on growing your farm, etc. then keep on moving.

I personally enjoyed the grind, but I'm a different type of player. I managed to grind out all but a couple of the game awards. You might enjoy the Medevial Dynasty game more, perhaps more action. Just a thought. Either way find what makes you happy.

Is driving for 20-30 minutes on a slow tractor a normal thing in this game?

You start out with equipment you can barter for. You will purchase better , bigger more effective things later. but it takes time. not an instant gratification game this one. Taking jobs near home might save you time? I usually just drove and if I had a piece of equipment with an engine, I never sold or traded it in, because it can be used for fast travel.

Hehe, games are not about real life, they're about escape from real life. Or would you like to have to wait half a year real-time for your crops to mature?

I actually think Farmer's Dynasty picks up the pace faster than e.g. Farming Simulator. Once you have enough social points (after you have done all the missions and repaired all your buildings) you can hire workers to perform fieldwork, which is a lot faster than doing it yourself with your old equipment, even if the profits are lower. At the end of the second in-game summer you will have enough money to buy a bunch of fields and a lot of the modern machinery. From there, it picks up exponentially and soon you'll be able to buy every field on the map if you wanted.

Simulators tend to be based on real life and although the term is used very loosely these days - as in what is considered a real simulator and what is just a game based on real life - you would expect things in a game based on real world events to take a long time. This is the hardest part for any developer of a simulator to get right, the fun to time scale. Of course ultimately this is a game and should be fun and things shouldn't take a 1:1 scale to do something, but then if something in the real world does take a long time it should be scaled correctly to reflect this. In the real world you wouldn't expect to be able to fully harvest an entire field in 20minutes? In a game though 20mins seems a reasonable amount of time to do the same task, to get the sense of achievement.

If a game day for example lasts 1 real hour, then you should expect to be able to get everything done in a day done in that hour. Again getting that sense of time right in a simulator is the hardest part.

As I have said before though, this game is obviously not agreeing with you, and you don't seem to be enjoying it so grab your refund and find a game that is more to your liking.

I'm with you on this one. Just started playing. The only thing I have done is go from person to person fixing their buildings and slowly driving the equipment back to my farm. Pretty terrible start to a farming game. At this point I feel like I'm playing Repair Dynasty. I really want to like it, but I still have to drive cross map like 3 more times to pick up the trailer, seeder and baler. It would be one thing if the 60mph truck could be used to transport anything. But just not worth the endless fetch and grab to start the game .

This game, like many others similar to it is always going to be a bit of a grind. Very limited customization options, and the vast majority of it is repeating repetitive tasks. Plow a field, cultivate the field, fertilize the field (twice), plant the crop, wait, wait wait wait wait, harvest the field (maybe even bale the chaff). Repeat. For optimum profit your will go in circles (or lines, or cross hatches, or whatever you want to do to complete the task) at least 6 times per field, per harvest. In between you can buildings, perform various tasks in other peoples fields, do drone races or treasure hunt. You can also grow various crop foods in your greenhouse and do a little cooking.

Customization of buildings is limited to basically fixing the preset wall style, picking a roof type, and maybe some limited coloring. Vehicles and trailers are limited to just color (and repairing the old ones to look new).

Personally I just use this game as a chill time to really do nothing.

If you want a similar game from the same developer you can try Lumberjack's Dynasty, which has similar mechanics to this game, but has a whole host of other customization options (You can upgrade equipment to run faster, have better braking, and use less fuel. You can paint walls and fences. You can further customize your house with new furniture that you can make yourself out of various wood types, as well as completely rearrange rooms. And there are a lot of other various tasks in the game as well). And a single forest of trees can keep you busy for hours.

Get HDS Pickup, buy materials and upgrade your property to the gloss, anything else is a pure garbage, literally it's about 3-days gameplay

As wiki says pigeons present as a decoration only and, regardless you have them or not, with everything gathered by wife it keeps showing some eggs to collect, so it's a bug. And if it worked, you probably wouldn't profit from pigeons, assuming these from geese and ducks are quite cheap. May be you have 150 to collect from geese and ducks? It's if you left house and go towards 2 starting fields in the barn on the left hand
