Yes you can. But to complete the quest you must then plough the field before cultivating it.
Really? Interesting, but given that you loose the field after I guess you might as well buy it (after ploughing or whatever of course, so you get paid rather than doing it for yourself!).
I now own all 4 greenhouses on the map, looking to but up the farmland . Beings you can only hire 4 "tractors" at a time and I use them a lot. I do go around repairing any farm I choose and plant all peas to be harvested by the " hired workers" and stick to harvesting a few fields of beets.
It does get boring and I will try some different things shortly, should have most all the implements available soon. Harvesting 3 times a year ( April , June/July , Sept, will keep you busy.
