Fishing - Time of Day
Is it just me or do all the fish clock off work at 17:30? I can fish in the morning, all day, then at 17:30 nothing... I first tried night fishing because I had the free time then and got nothing. So I Fished after finishing a quest and all was great.. until 17:30 when, nothing more. It's August, why the heck is it so dark at 17:30??? Where I live it's light until 30:00 or so... and the sun rises before 6:00... Also, night fishing is a real thing.

Anyhow, the only fishing I've done is in the pond next to my house, so I don't know if there are any other spots yet...

I've caught fish after 7pm in the dusk (in the homestead pond). FYI The lake in the NE corner of the map is REALLY good for fishing - you can start at the west end of the narrow bit and just follow the fish along the banks and catch fish after fish.

Follow the fish...? Are you telling me that the fish are actually animated in the game? You can see them? I'm blind, so I thought it was just an RNG thing. I always fish in the pond East of the player House. I go out the door and due East past the fence, of course, and stand on the boat dock. I've been able to catch them from 8am to 5:30pm and not a minute after. If the fish are moving along the water on some kind of track, maybe they are going south... I'll have to try that later on.

I do the same thing, part of my morning ritual, feed the dog, catch a couple of fish, start work...

Yes, you can see the animated fish, or, if they are too far offshore you can see splashes and ripples. They just appear in random (ish) clumps usually swimming apart and then back together. I believe that you stand a better chance of catching if you drop a hook in the middle of their clump but you can also catch by just randomly fishing anywhere so who knows if there is any actual intelligence to it?. In the lake I mentioned they do tend to move from west to east and then back again, perhaps because it is quite narrow at that point.

OK, thanks. I still don't know how i'd find them at night... I tried dozens of times to fish at night and starting at 5:30pm nothing...

My morning ritual, still very early game for me... gather eggs and apples, cook them, maybe go fishing still working that out) get to work.
Try fishing first? I usually see fish close to the jetty first thing and they rise to feed early on.
