Can this be played offline?

Over the Holidays I visit family and they are in the middle of nowehere. Can we play our saved games without internet connection?

So far it appears no. Whenever I lost my Steam connection my hunger and "tiredness" went through the roof, and you can actually watch the bar dive to the left.

So in short this game has a "Always online" condition, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell, it is farming Sim City.

If you start the game in Steam Offline mode it worked fine for me.

That's how I play mostly - never had any problems.

Offline on steam and internet Offline are totally different things. You still have internet when “offline” on steam. (Just invisible to friends). I will have zero internet and zero playtime on this game, because of this. Holding a game hostage for internet connections is well, purely lazy programming or an oversight nowadays. Ah well. One less game to play/record during the 2 week holidays. Have fun everyone. Look forward to reconnecting in the new year and playing again then.

Unplug your internet and start steam in offline mode and it works fine. If you don't like it thats one thing, but don't make stuff up.

My opening post was asking if it was capable... Hard to get to the connection on my pc as it is built in a desk corner. However the first reply said NO it was not capable.. I was going off that information and since no-one else said anything, i figured it was the case. (setting steam to offline in friends list still updates games, however you are correct, you start steam offline when no internet is available and you are in a true offline mode) Still would like a dev to either confirm or deny that we can still save and load games in true offline.

I still don't understand why this game needs to be online. Truth be told, I'm wary of games (especially singleplayer games) that require internet connection to play them. Good chance I wouldn't have bought it in the first place had I known that.

kinda dumb that you have to have online connection, at least for me it drain all my bandwidth Tried going offline...same :/

I think the big difference or problem is that we bought the rights to play the game but not to own the game. The game publisher used EA (Early Access) declaration to reserve the right to perpetually do analytics on the game while we play it.
