As for workers ,they dont generate more cash for doing it instead of yourself, what you do gain is cash for the field and time to do other things like a second field.
Wheat/Barley is touchy, sometimes it can be buggy with bailage and doesn't drop it at all.Either be there when they start so you can see if you need to reload when it doesnt fall out the back of the hired one. They do not bale
Wheat /Barley best done yourself and if you do a 2/3-cut width on the outside of the field and then 1/4 - 1/2 width with the harvester for rest of the field you will get more bailage than a full width cut at this stage.
The catch is it takes alot more time to finish the field - though makes you more money from hay bales ,
You can always create a save game to test then reload if it sucks or fails
The 1/4-1/2 works well... but i dont know if i have the patience to keep doing that but it has helped make me a lot more money.
I did then try using a worker to harvest a Lupine field i purchased but they only made about half the cost of the field which I thought was bad so reloaded to try doing it myself.. I made $200 less than the worker so im guessing Lupine crops arent very good, maybe other non bale crops would be better. I just thought higher cash per ton would make it a good choice.
