50k sp requirement for hiring workers
Is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I've been playing for 30 hours and have actually used my social points (I know, who would be so crazy!) I don't look forward to the idea of grinding for 6 hours of plowing someone else's field for the 50k social points just for the privilege of hiring someone to help out a bit.

It's ridiculous, and pointless. You're basically saying you need to have 50k sp banked at all times just in case you want to hire a worker. Instead, why don't you actually have a system that makes sense and have the game look at the maximum amount of social points you've gained in total and calculate the 50k THAT way? That way the initial gameplay is preserved (as you stated was the reason) and people that have actually used the sp don't have to grind for more time when they're obviously past the initial gameplay point.

They are not designing this game for those of us who are well into the game already. They are designing it for new players. I can totally see that they would want new players to have to make a choice. Should I spend my social points early to buy better equipment to make my work easier, or should I save the points to hire workers to also make my work easier, only in a different way. But they want it to have to be a choice and not get both too early in the game.

The problem is they basically give you 50k sp at the beginning of the game and hiring workers doesn't actually cost SP , you just need to have that much sitting there. So a new player can just hire a bunch of workers, THEN spend the sp and they're off. It doesn't make sense.

All are balancing issues that I am sure the developers are monitoring to try to figure out better ways to impliment. Our job as players is to test out such items (in the 'real' world), & see how they work. Then post constructive comments on how it may be changed. I am sure that all such new mechanics are added to the game, in the best way that the developers can 'figure' they may be used, but it is indeed very hard to consider all the possible ways that players may end up actually using them.

Maybe a simple change such as making the requirement that your player has to gained at least 50k Social Points before any NPC would consider working for them. This would not have the requirement that you actually have the points currently - such as how people are at first 'unsure' of your character, but over time (as you gain Social Points), then they start to trust you.

Then additionally, they could add additional 'levels' such as the next 25 - 50k, they really start to like you. This might then lower the cost that they charge to work for you. Or they could do the job faster or maybe even better quality. So there could be a few 'levels', so that over time the community gets to know you better & like or dislike you, depending on your actions in the game.

I really like that idea. That makes sense that people would want to know who they're working for (sort of).

It just feels like obvious issues weren't thought of before implementing the system. I just hope they're willing to listen to their players.

I hope they add different ways of getting social points. Right now it's an insane grind that isn't fun at all.

You also help the neighbors with mission orders, the more the better and maybe this could be your helper for less SP. Depending on how often you helped him. That would be a nice system. One hand washes the other :-)
GT ... sorry

Maybe they could add a social level system. 50k points reaches level 1 and you would be able to hire 1 worker. Then like 75k points reaches level 2 and the ability to hire 2 workers or something along those lines. Then even if you spent your social points you would still have the social level gained.

That would be perfect. As it is, it's strange to have to keep a bank of 50k to be able to hire workers.

The whole idea that you "spend" social points when buying fields and machines doesn't really make sense. I mean you get a cheaper price for a tractor or whatever and now everyone hates you and refuses to work for you?
Also it's much harder to gain social points than money in this game, so social points are more "valuable" than mone, yet you trade them 1:1 when buying things.

Luckily I was hanging on yo my social points because I expected them to become more useful in the future. So I only had to gain about 8k social points in order to hire workers.

It's not that the npc's hate you when you spend social points.

You do favors for npc's for social points. This is like gaining "good will" with these people. They now are in debt to you and owe you a favor. Once you redeem that favor (often a discount on a purchase) you have to do more favors to build up the good will again. You can't expect to trade on a few good deeds forever. This is an ongoing process.

You trade them 1:1 when you buy things, but you earn them 2:1 when you do favors.

Open the map and click on a field you own. If you have enough social points saved up there will be an option ro hire workers.

Yes, but missions like plowing fields, fixing buildings etc. only give you <=1000 SP. If you spent all your initial SP's for repairing your farm, this means doing at least 50 missions to earn them back.

I'm not sure exactly how long a mission takes, but it's safe to say this is many, many hours of gameplay because the game didn't make it clear in the beginning that SP are very valuable and you should hang on to them. Since you get ~50k SP for initially repairing your farm, new players also get the impression that SP are easy to earn, which is not the case.
Spending them all on fields or new machinery is extremely stupid, since you then can't hire workers and possible other things in the future.

Yeah somewhat like real life... You make decisions & try certain things... Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Then you learn & hopefully as you mature, you learn better ways of doing things.

At least with games we can create saves before trying something, & then if doesn't work we can go back & do it the other way. Nothing is perfect, & this or other games would become very boring, very fast if everything was perfect. We play the game... Learn from our choices... go on & try different ways. Wow this is really great!
