Repair Work
Since repair work is a big part of this game, it has to be modifed from it's current state.

The click, click, click, click...has to go.

There has to be a better way to achieve this, without making it so mind-numbling boring that you'd rather see busted up buildings than repair them.

At first, I was okay with it. So many pieces to a greenhouse...and so many people need theirs repaired...I just can't do it anymore.

This is where a mini-game or two should come in. Perhaps we have a different minigame for the type of tool we are using.

For the nail gun, a small bar with a sliding target. If you nail when the target is in the correct position, boom, all done on that section. If you miss, you can try again. Each time, miss or hit, progress is made. If you get close, but not quite hit the target, more progress is made.

That is just an example. Maybe that won't actually help with the tedium...

Perhaps we use more than one tool for variety. First we are using a prybar to remove old wood, or a hammer to knock out old blocks. Then it switches to a new piece of wood and a hammer. Then it switches to a sander and finishes with paint or such.

Dunno.

I love the game, overall, and I see where it's going and get excited for it. But this will kill it. I know few people who will repair more than one greenhouse before saying, "Nope. Done with that crap."

It's tedious and dull. The repair work just doesn't feel rewarding. Maybe we need a system of tracking the town prestige, where you want to repair the things in town to build prestige. The higher the prestige, the more equipment opens up, or more people come to town. Maybe you could get a bank loan for that new tractor, based on the town's prestige.

Maybe a leveling system for the player, based on such a system. You repaired the neighbors barn, you earned social points, but you spend those points to increase your own skills. Now you can get 5% more crops from a field, spending the right amount of social points to unlock it.

This would mean a player has to decide, does he want to get that seeder cheaper, or does he want to boost his own skills for a better harvest?

Not that such a system would take away the boring repetitive nature of doing those repairs, but at least you'd feel rewarded for doing them.

I know it's still early access, but the repair system is turning everyone I show this game to away from it. It needs something, something make it not so tedious and mind-numbing. And a progression system would be nice either way.

These, of course, are just my current thoughts. Thank you for reading, and here's to the future of the game!

All you have to do is go to the Options menu & select the "Tool mode: Hold". This then changes the game so that you hold the mouse button until repairs are completed.

Also, might want to reveiw some of the YouTube videos relating to the game:
Daggerwin - had early access to game, & daily puts out a new video.
Marvellously Posh - has a real good "Hints & Tips" video.
Ian Robinson - has started a "Let's Play".
There are a bunch others also.

For some of us it's the calm repetition that we find so relaxing. Hold LMB to complete each section is easy to do but that's the beauty of it. If I wanted complicated mini-games I would buy a game that has them. I bought this game to relax and enjoy the ambiance. :D

Perhaps they could implement more complex mini-games, but also an option turn them off (maybe even a variable difficulty level).

Really don't see what this has to do with what I wrote.

I have watched all those guys, except Posh, and regardless of the videos they put out...it doesn't take away the tediousness of the repair work.

And while you can click hold...it also doesn't take away the tediousness of the repair work.

In case you didn't realize, I wasn't bashing the game.

My appoligies, I didn't think you were 'bashing' the game, Just that I thought you did not know about the options setting to turn the tools operation from a 'click each dot' to a 'click & hold' method. A bunch of other playes in the past had this same issue, & this setting solved their problems.
