Garbage Farmers Dynasty review on Rock Paper Shotgun.

Brendan Caldwell wrote a review about FD and calls the game garbage. I would categorize his review about FD in the same manner(link of the review below). Why i state his review with garbage because Brendan brings toxic discussions to the table why not gay merriage in FD to give an example.

This topic is for those who are doing there research befor they decide if they want to buy Farmers Dynasty or not. Because honestly the game is expensive in it's current state.

The question is, is this game worth your money. Well if you like for example Farming Simulator 20XX as i do. Yes in my oppinion this game is better although still in a rough state. The biggest problem FS has is context and the goal why you farm. FS gets extremely boring. Maps are boring only community created maps are good like Oakfield. But the farming experience due to the outdated graphics engine used(DX9) are bad. FD has a more modern 3d engine wich gives you a taste of real farming and gives field plowing a new meaning : ).

FS costs also too much the DLC's are ridiculous overpriced. FD becomes cheap then. In short it's all about context, grinding a new tractor just for the sake of grinding a new tractor is superboring. Then they release a new DLC to get more equipment to grind. And this goes on for years. FD gives it a new approach gives it more context.

FD has more potential then FS but FD should incorporate things wich FS does rigtht. A modding community without that FS would be long gone by now.

I'm a fan of both games. I would not call FD better, but I would say that it has the potential to be better. FS could learn a few things from FD. I still feel that I'm grinding in FD, particularly when I'm doing the quests that require me to fix the poorest upkept farms anywhere in the world or plow the slowest plowing fields to get more Euros. Additionally, I hope that FD comes out with a U.S. version or just allows switching to US currency and measures. In fact, I think I'll go add that to the wish list, if it is not already there. ;)

However, to your original post, I don't think it is fair for someone to give a bad rating to this game that is making solid improvements weekly in early access. I agree with you that this might be a little over-priced for EA, but understand the devs have to put food on the table, so I'm glad I could help in that regard.

I read the review and to be honest, everyone is entitled to their opinion except in this instance where I think the review is a bit harsh considering the game is still in early access

You are missing the point in why FD is being attacked and got a bad review. FD has some Christian themes. FD got a bad review because of it. One of my first thoughts i got when i just started to play was. You will hear about the church stuff and gay merriage and i was right!!

Well although i feel the game is a little bit overpriced, i am more then happy to support these devs and buy there game. The game has way more potential then they realize themselves. And i can only hope they get more passionate about there work. And we can share there passion and joy with them.

The review was unfairly harsh considering it is an Early Access game, but it does have some valid points.

-Lack of customization. Lack of same-sex marriage and a female player character aside, you also can't customize your player character in any way - not even change the color of your shirt. For a game that's part RPG, this is a big oversight. People like to spend a lot of time in RPG's customizing their character (gender, clothing, hair/skin color, face etc.).

-Lifeless map and bland NPC's - Valid points, but the devs are going to add traffic, better NPC schedules etc. so this will improve. This is crucial for the game and what will set it apart, otherwise it just becomes a Farming Simulator clnoe with a lifeless, sterile world.

-Awkward dialogues/voice acting - It *is* pretty cringy at times and the dialogue options are too shallow. Hopefully this will improve, but since the voiceovers are already recorded, I wouldn't expect any major changes.

-Grindy jobs/tasks - The game needs more "quest" variety rather than just plowing fields and fixing buildings. It's OK with a bit of grind at the beginning of the game, but when every NPC questgiver wants you to plow this or that gigantic field for a tiny reward, it becomes too much.

okay, the RPS article is crap. very tendentious, and too disregarding the early access fact.

but on the other hand, I would prefer to say good things about Farming Dynasty, without mocking Farming Simulator.

well,
- if it gets boring or not is up to the way you play.
- the original maps are nice, and there are hundreds of community created maps out there and over the half is oddless crap.
- the engine WORKS, even on a low machine. and the grafics are nice and functional. what do I have from a sunset in FarmExpert when my straw on the field shines like gold so I wonder if I had a wrong mushroom?

the Farm Expert engine is extremely ressource hungry, in Farm Expert16 I had to turn the grafix settings down to minimum on my old core2duo, and it still was stuttering, while FS17 ran acceptable on medium settings.
meanwhile I have an i5 so that is no problem anymore.

it is GREAT what they made of the FEx engine here in this game, but it still is quite reccource hungry, and the LOD is a bot too close to the cam for my taste.


I rather stop here because I'm making myself angry.
I just ask you, if you complain about unfair treatment, stay fair yourself.
point out the good sides of FD, and just don't mock FS.

Yeah i used to take RPS seriously but some of there titles started to look like "we gonna give you this and you write this" it just doesnt feel honest it feels like someone did somethin to turn this review (my personal opinion) soo i am standing this battle here with devs no matter what those a..holes gonna say in RPS on it this game finaly did breakthough in gaming simulator genre and i will suport it

The article, while a bit harsh, seemed to hit the nail on the head in my opinion. The game is EA and that should grant some slack in how it's reviewed, but the core issues talked about in the article are all true.

I take issue with the original poster here calling gay marriage toxic. Got no time for homophobes, racists, sexist people and it's the duty of all good people to call it out for the nastiness it is.

I think the review was poorly written and not well thought out, although it had flagged some valid points, I strongly feel it was unfair to omit the fact this game is in Early Access and not a fully finished game. Perhaps a lot of people should email RPS and complain about that omission making the review a highly biased and unfair one.
