This is just a game ,, but Plowing a field every time you plant a field is wrong ,, you don't need to ,, just disk the field and reseed ,, in real life

he can't because there is no "right" way to farm. every farmer has things he does different and things that work well on one farm might end up being a disaster on another. farmers are ALWAYS trying something different, doesn't matter if they just started or have been farming for 50 years

There is a right way to farm eco friendly ,, it is slow and takes time but in the long run we won't end up with another dust bowl like we had in the 1920's in the mid west ,, Farming has to progress to the next level if WE America want to feed US and The rest of the world that need help

Your posting jumps to a lot of conclusions & appears to claim that your way is the only way. But from your "vast" farming experience (Mini Farming - testing on a small scale while waiting to buy more land to farm in future), you jump to many conclusions & make statements that do NOT work for all conditions. I am thinking you should report back after you have a real farm with many, many more acres, & more years of experience. Then I would be more interested in your conclusions for different tillage practices.

• No-till tends to use MORE chemicals (in fact no-till did not really take a hold until chemicals started to really proliferate for farming).
  
• No-till can potentially increase disease pathogens in soils.
  
• No-till gullies can be a long-term problem, with them forming deeper gullies over time. Requiring more expensive drainage systems being installed.
  
• No-till requires specialized equipment designed to work in no-till conditions.

All which add up to a very expensive decision that farmers have to balance out with the potential rewards for changing over to such practices. Granted there are defintely pros & cons either way to chosing one tillage method over another. All things that a farmer has to decide & make long-term decisions on which to do, sometimes with payouts very far in the future.

The vast majority of farmers today care very much about the soil on their farms amongst other things. They make their daily livelyhood on taking care of & managing what they have. Farming is really a hard, demanding job, that the vast majority of people today, have no real idea of what is involved. Long hours, hard work, working in all kinds of conditions, weather, are just a few of the factors that they have to "fight" on a daily basis.

Imagine if players really had to run this game like a real farm - I would bet that a large majority of them would immediately quit. I find it 'funny' when I hear some of them complaining that they cannot buy the new machinery after the first harvest. Personally that should be a couple years away event. Or you have to take a loan from the bank & risk that you are able to pay it off in time with the new machinery, & keep yourself out of debt.

People should take every chance they can to thank farmers for what they do. They feed the vast majority of us who do not farm. Without them, our current standard of living would be so very different.

I appoligize for my "rant" here, but I think players should first read their postings, & then look at how it appears, prior to posting in such forums.

This is a game, that is trying to simulate a overall "big picture" of owning a farm & making it work. Incorporating all the intereactions with your neighbors in the surrounding communities, working the farm, & interacting with your wife/partner to make it all work & hopefully provide for your families future.

Your rant is perfectly encouraged ,, I know a no till no plow farming is not normal ,, I posted a video showing I actually am trying it in real life ,, right now I am trying a farming techneke called back to eden using wood chip ,, I have over 15 acres of sweet corn ,, i use what i show in my video as my testing to try to get better crops ,, no till so far seems to be best for me in my area

Merck. While I make no claim to know much about large scale farming. I do find it funny when some also complain about the game being to grindy. I mean it's a game about farming, what do they expect? I actually got this game for that premise that you start with next to nothing and have to build your way up. Also why I dislike farming Simulator as I found you started with to much of a head start.

To be honest though the game does not even implement more proper pesticide controls, like herbicides and insecticides.

You are 100% wrong about chemicals used for no till farming sorry ,, maybe do some research before you post

Got tired of reading so if someone said this I'm sorry. After having played and participated in forums on many games I conclude that whoever is right or wrong about the "right way" makes no difference. It boils down to how difficult it is to code a game in a way to make it fun and useable for everyone. Some will not want to cut any corners and some will want it all handed to them. The Devs have to code it so everyone gets some good and some fun out of it or their name is MUD in the gaming community.

You can see that's true by just reading the discussions on ANY game.

And by the way I don't mean this as a slam but a serious question. How do you expect the way that a game on a computer works to actually affect the farming eco system ?

no they are not new. farmers have been using cover crops damn near as long as farming has existed. you're also wrong about chemicals. notill favours weeds, insects and disease all of which require chemicals to combat. what you save in fuel and equipment by not working the ground you spend on chemicals and application.

and no i'm not saying cover crops are bad(they are good) but this idea you have that it's the ONLY way is simply wrong. you also don't have to be a notill farmer to use cover crops. cover crops are also kinda pricey with basiclly zero return and farming has extremely tight margins so for many it simply doesn't pencil out. notill is much the same, the investment required for equipment is massive($100k+ for a notill planter) and you're going to have a crap crop for a few years as the soil adapts and that's even if it actually works decently in your area or on your soil.

we don't need to make fun of you, you're doing that on your own. your tiny *** garden is NOT farming and your ideas will NEVER work large scale. you come off as an infomercial, throwing out a bunch of bs claims just to fool someone into buying your garbage product

the other point where you go wrong is, you don't have any right to judge others by your own limited perception. you know nothing about people here. most are just here to share a hobby.
you don't know who of us is e.g. a firefighter to risk his life everyday to save other people, or a social attendant, or a scientist researching indoor hydro cultures for private houses, or simply a friendly retiree who helps his single mother neighbor to cope with her three children, or who simply is a child and has the right to play, or whatever you can think of.

So I am looking to buy $1.5 mill 100 acres of land it is registered as Organic growing land why would I even think about spending this much on farm land? I believe in echo friendily farming I use my small test areas in my back yard to prove it can be done on large scale farming

I am sorry if you feel like I am shouting at anyone, I do not mean to , This is a new game still being developed. This game has alot of potiential to be great , why not add cover crops and no till no plow as a option without loosing crop production in the game . All I have been trying to say is Plowing then cultivating then planting then fertilizer then cow manuer ,, every time on every field is not the best way to farm and make money in real life. You got kids and some adults playing these farming games learning the wrong ways real farming works ,, because this game is new the DEVs can add other options ,, I would like to see more enviormentaly friendly options without loosing crop production because it works . Nature does not plow, nature does not use chemicals, we can learn from nature , we can use cover crops that pull nutrience from the air and soil to regrow the earth on old farm lands that have had to much plowing, I have seen it done on others farms and I am doing it myself on my back yard 2 acres pluss 15 acres 5 mins away from me, soil is a living biological system, if you plow or till it you Kill it, then you have to add fertilizers and chemicals so you can grow anything , we as farmers have to regrow our soil bio system it takes about 3-4 years, using field rotation and cover crops you should never have to use fertilizers or chemicals ever again. There is also Farm scaping planting flowers and other crops close to and in your field that atract benifical insects that will control any pesty bug problems you might have. The only reason it is not widly used now is because farmers can't afford to regrow their soil using eco friendly cover crops for 3-4 years,, so ya we will continue to have mass pesticides and fertilizers in our food we eat every day , and cancer rates keep going up ?? Humm I wonder why
