A Quick Guide for New Players - Updated 11th October

I've dumped the original (long) post which was 9 months out of date. Everything else in here is well worth reading, to get you on the long & happy road of farming.

That's the infamous magical egg, it has the property to appear and dissapear. But if you don't find it today I'm afraid that it will rain always and your crops will die

I'm having trouble hiring workers to work my fields.. Sometimes I can open the menu and other times I can not.. What are the requirements for hiring workers?

You have to have at least 50k social points to hire a worker, this is the only requirement.

Honey

To gather honey from the bee hives, just approach & look for the prompt - as in the picture below.

Not every hive will have honey, & they don't always produce every day.

Helps to have flowers near the hives.

Honey Recipe Book

Events

* Check the map to find when events are happening. You will see a yellow trophy cup on the map, & when you hover over that icon, it will state how many days until the event.
* Pressing the TAB key will also have yellow markers on event dates (upper right of screen).

Drone Races
You can use either the normal drone or a racing drone for these events. Racing drones can be purchased at John's Store next to the farm.
On the day of the event, go to the location marked on the map. You will then see the yellow trophy icon hovering in the sky. Read the information posted, & when ready press the E key to start the race (note for it is in upper left of the screen when close enough to icon);

Controls (keyboard)

• WASD - directional controls (Forward/Left/Backward/Right)
  
• Shift - moves drone down (lowers elevation)
  
• Space - moves drone up (raises elevation)

There is a short count down. Race through the hoops until the course is finished. There is a counter of how many hoops remain to the course finish;

Mushroom Collecting
On the day of the event, go to the location marked on the map. You will then see the yellow trophy icon hovering in the sky. Read the information posted, & when ready press the E key to start the race (note for it is in upper left of the screen - when close enough to icon).
Collect all the mushrooms inside the zone. Areas outside of the zone will have a green overlay. NOTE: you can go to other areas to collect mushrooms.

Collect all the required mushrooms to win the event. There is a remaining mushrooms number, which lets you know how many are left to win the event.

September Festival
Runs all through September. You will see two large balloons during the festival

You can sell many items you make or collect at a better price during this festival.
This includes:

• Fish & vegetables that you collect
  
• Eggs & milk
  
• Canned foods you make
  
• Recipe dishes you or your wife make

Look around the house with the Engineer's Sight (ES) (default RMB). I found my first child by seeing a new happy face in the house. Child will be in the crib. They stay in the crib for a couple years before they run about.

Bale differences per Old & New balers.

Recent testing using one of the starting fields (0.89 ha), with wheat as the crop.

I harvested the field using the new combine. This produced 9,902 kg of wheat grain, which I then transferred to the Krampe grain trailer. The new quantity was 9,910 kg of grain (Note this is a known bug which I am assuming is due to a 'rounding' difference per equipment). This grain was sold at the Old Windmill, & netted a profit of 5,353.19 Euro's.

I then saved the game so that the straw crop could be tested using both balers.

• The new baler netted me 30 bales, which sold for 4,500 Euro's.
  
• The old baler netted me exactly the same amount of bales.

So the combined profit from this field was 9,853.19 Euro's.

So as can see from the above numbers, both balers do produce the same amount of bales. Others have reported in the past that they have received less bales from the new baler. I believe that the reason they did receive less with the new baler, was that they were baling fields that were harvested with the new combine, which indeed did give out less straw. The old combine did give out more straw (Note: I believe the latest update reduced the straw output on the old combine), which should make it more 'in-line' with the new combine.

I plan on repeating this test using the old combine to initially harvest the field & will post the results after done.

NOTE:Prices used to be $150 per bale, but have been reduced in updates.
