How to open safe?!?!?!

I'm in the Riddler's workshop. How to open the freaking safe> I turn the mouse, the bars fill up, I click the LMB... and then the bars empty and I can't get them to fill again. I've tried 10 times. Help! Argh!

If I remember right:

First turn off the sound for this section.
Hold left mouse button and move the mouse in a counter-clockwise motion.
After the bars fully open up, press E. You will be prompted.

Edit: You may have to play arround with your mouse sensitivity. IDK for sure. I didn't have to do so.

okay keyboard and mouse solution. dont do anything until the greeen is like 80/90% the hold LMB and move the mouse up and down furiously the then hit E when prompted(in my game at least)

There always seem to be at least one "puzzle" with a nonsensical interface in every Telltale game. Very annoying because apart from this I enjoy playing most Telltale adventures.

I've tried every "solution" to opening the safe in the many threads in this discussion board using different mouse and keyboard actions, none worked for me. Fortunately I have a gamepad, with that it took all of a few seconds to get past this puzzle.

Which safe is it? I don't remember the riddle anymore and there is no quick journal button. There really should be in puzzle games, especially if you are playing after a couple days off.

Acctually it's kinda genious, you are supposed to turn the dial clockwise, as it states in the chamber/torture tube.
Tryed the way it was prompting me and it didn't work at all. Only when I turned it counterclockwise.

Finally after like 15 tries I got it by doing what you said but also reducing the mouse sensitivity a lot and clicking when it got close to filling then pressing E quickly.

I was playing with a controller and couldn't pull it off. When I switched to keyboard and mouse, it worked just fine.
