What even was the point of the vigilante choice...

What even was the point of the vigilante choice if this is how it leads.. asking for a good joker is not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much. They even done it in the comics!
Im immensely disappointed. I wasn’t even looking for the romance, but the promise that episode 4 made. All wasted effort.

The point is that John Doe is a screwed up psychopathic murderer, and would be that way, regardless of what you did. That his who he is, and something you cannot change.

The game of the game is making your own bruce wayne and batman, and how you affect other characters through the game, and yeah, some things you cannot change, but it changes the way your bruce is, if you played the vigilante path, that means that you wanted to help joker, that you tried really hard, but eventually, you see that you can't do anything else to help him, he won't change, that's why you can't change him and why if you told him you tought of him as a friend at some point, you'll win him as a fallen friend on the relationships and choices at the end of the chapter

i agree with you, OP. at first i was really excited by the idea that they could do a COMPLETELY different ending to the story than if you got the "villain" Joker ending to ep. 4, instead it just felt like the typical, disappointing Telltale "illusion of choice" where you think what you say and do matters, but when it comes down to it, the story was going to end the same way regardless. Would have liked the option to at least keep Joker from going full villain in some way (as even said, it was done in the comics). Oh well. I'm sure they will do a season 3, but Joker's not turning back at this point.

Well, at the very least the body count for Vigilante Joker is limited to about two dozen people vs. Villain Joker, who has killed dozens, if not hundreds.

Plus, if you stayed friends, there's the possibility that Vigilante Joker was just a phase and John won't see any reason to break out of Arkham and commit attrocities when his best friend Bruce visits regularly.

All in all, I'd say the ending was bittersweet, but ultimately worked out for the best.

I think it was great. Immersive and a bit sad. Maybe they should have stayed in his Vigilante route, but yeah, he is still too crazy. My greatest fear for the final was that joker would have planned it, which could have happened if he killed riddler. I never thought on *** here, though it makes sense afterwards.
Also greatest sentence :,,Joker forgot that he shouldn t forget not to kill people" lol :).

I couldn't have said it better. It's typical TT illusion of choice.
