RANT - Alfred Scene (Ep5 Spoilers)
I'm sorry to say, but while I enjoyed for the most part the series, and tolerated the creative direction the team wrote with the story (Bruce Wayne's dad a criminal, Vicky Vale a Villain, Lucius Fox dying), the straw for me was this:

Alfred trying to leave Bruce for choosing to be Batman goes against canon and goes against the main crux of what Batman entails. Alfred, for better and worse, has always been by Bruce's side, not just as a father, but also as someone who shared with Bruce the aim of ridding Gotham of the criminal underworld. Super criminals, or criminals that are born with the intent of destroying Batman has never wavered Alfred's support because as one of the options clearly stated: there is more good than evil to balance. In Alfred's eyes and as he had always believed: Batman is good and is the hero Gotham needs.

So this Alfred, for lack of better words and no ill will to the team, is disappointing and hypocritical. I wasted season one risking an ear and damage for this guy, go with his plan and the agency, and managed to make Joker less of an insane murdering maniac, and the thanks I get is an ultimatum: Chose between him and the cause he and Bruce believed in.

And for what reason? The half-arsed "you will die the same as your dad, Bruce."

No, just no. Philosophically, even if the end were the same, which is highly unlikely with the means and ends Batman trained endlessly to strive against the gun and the criminal, is dying a Villain the same as dying a hero? Is dying for a good cause worth the means to save those you care about, over dying due to personal greed?

I hope Alfred comes back in season 3 and returns rightfully by Batmans side.

Good point. I was also disappointed by this final scene.
I agree, at first i thought his lack of faith & loyalty was because i always took john's side and went through with his plans (as much as i could), but his reasoning barely involved my loyalty to john and more about the entire batman career thus far. It wasnt a hard decision to let him leave.

He's just doing his middle life crisis a little too late.
YE this is really stupid why would alfred leave...

There are clues and bits of dialogue peppered throughout S2 that set it up for Alfred, but the player never has any way to influence this problem and so feels cornered. The writers therefore needed to make a good case to sell the moment and IMO they failed to do so.

I actually do like the concept though, since this is an elseworlds story. They should've explored the Batman obsession throughout the season for this to work.

I was sick to the stomach to hear him wuss out i felt that back stabbed could feel the knife down my spine lol it woukd be like going thru with all the characters from mass effect who you help and vice versa finally chasing harbinger down and him saying ' theres a chance il kill you'' and all your party members each one of them backing up slowly all muttering exuses why they shouldnt stand with you

Garrus: for example 'yep erm yea i um think i need to calibrate my kitchen door im jus gonna get to that thing see ya'

Wrex : i um i kinda ate to many varren snacks on the way i uh i cant help i gotta sore tum tum

Tali : i kinda gotta get onto that thing that err i left the light on in the docking bay on the flotilla

Liara : like i um just found another prothean dig site it was under my couch all along im gonna go cowe... I mean excavate until harbinger goes away

And with that they all run screaming in all directions meanwhile shep stands there for a split second then says aloud what the actual ♥♥♥♥ was that?!?

This whole series throws canon out the window with TellTale giving it a middle finger on its way out, and this is what bugged you?

Quite frankly, I'm both amazed and sorely disappointed that DC comics signed off on any of this.

Telltale made up it's own story, if they want to make Aflred like that, they can

As I said, I didn't mind them doing that, but on its own merit, the Alfred scene is horrible.

Telltale is trying to do its own thing with Batman and even though I agree that Alfred would've died before leaving Bruce, I think Telltale just thought that this would add some drama to the game. Also, it makes it more realistic too because when you choose to do something like becoming Batman, you may have to deal with people departing for personal reasons. It makes the story more complex and unique.

Overall though, I wouldn't worry about it too much. We haven't seen the last of Alfred. He'll be back. They're not just going to have him walk away and not gain anything from it.
OK TELLTALE WTF...leaving alfred.,. that was a stupid writing cop out ;/

I think the ending wasn't that bad, Alfred always comes back anyway so it doesn't matter.
