Does the order matter?

I was thinking of getting Batman: The Enemy Within, but I haven't played the first game made by Telltale.

Do I need to have played the first one to understand this one, or am I able to jump right in without getting confused?

You can start playing right from this one, but you might won't understand some hints, things, and some characters!

So far a lot seems to tie into Season 1, however we're only 1 episode in so who knows. I'd say get the first one first.

I enjoyed Season 1, so I say get it and play it first before Season 2. And since it's a month or two betweeen each episode of Season 2, you have time to play all of Season 1. There isn't really a rush to play Season 2, unless you are like me and have played the first season and can play Season 2 as each episode is released.

It would be really confusing since Enemy Within references the first season quite a lot. It would be like skipping the first season of a TV show. You also have the option of importing your save from season 1. I'd highly recommend playing them in chronological order. Have a nice day.
