This doesn't seem possible because it will only let me assign either left OR right. When I change the defaults I can only move left or right, not both. Somewhat strange. When I do delete the default keys they always come back to mouse control. I wish to move with my keyboard not my mouse. The mouse is for "looking" around, not movement.
The options for changing the controls seem pretty confusing. I can only add one key for both directions ? Left and right ?
So, I imagine once I get in the plane I will have the same problem as the OP because I will only be able to roll one way.
Curious. What am I doing wrong in the options menu for the controls ?

How do I get Left to the Left side and Right to the Right side ?
By default WASD control movement on Airfield not the Mouse anyway, that is your view.
I just tried it, do not delete defaults at first, Open Airfield Controls.
Select Add key under Walk left/Right, tap Left Arrow, click on Select Key next to the command (ignore the mouse axis it has added when you move mouse to do this, thats what makes setting these up a pain, it would be easier if it just detected the first key everytime). and select confirm or similar.
You should now see Left arrow as a command, click on the invert box (this makes it control left movement in game).
Select Add Key as above but now tap Right Arrow, Select Key and Confirm but do not invert this one, Right Arrow will now control Move Right in game.
You can now tick the X on the Commands you no longer need ie A and D to delete them.
Repeat Process as required for any other keys.
It is possible you may need to Select Advanced options so you can change operation from Static to Dynamic, depending on the control the Key is controlling.
I have to do this with Throttle Axis on my Stick as default is Static and that makes Throttle erratic and all over the place, it should be Dynamic with an Axis, common sense does not prevail with this control confoguration by default.
Hope that helps
Configuring of Controls has been made overly complicated to be honest, should be the same as any other game out there,
Click Function you want to control and then auto detect the first Axis moved or Button pushed and automatically Assign it done.
None of this having to Select the Key you just pushed in a list, assigning multiple keys, Static and Dynamic rubbish.
Never seen so complicated a system, the AutoConfigure now in game is just about useless as well, as all my controls had to be done manually anyway as the Autoconfigured keys/axis did not work. It assigned multiple keys and axis the the same commands.
Also, when changing the bindings for "walk sideways" there is no option to choose left or right. Both binding appear on the right side. Instead of Default = A = Left / Default D = Right when changing this I get Left Arrow = Right / Right Arrow = Right. Basically how do I move the binding to the Left side of the options screen ?
I've just attempted rebinding again after setting everything back to default and it still adds both left and right arrows to the Walk Sideways = Right.
I think I give up
Edit : Sorry, I just re-read your post ..... I must click "Invert" .... Thanks for that info. Atm I'm too frustrated with the options to have another go.
If you look at the Default buttons, you can see one will be inverted in a two way control, thats how I worked it out.
As I said, after you have tapped "Right Arrow" for example, you then need to click or double click on the Select Key button next to it in the list, ignore any other entries.
When you click on that and then Create Key Binding button below, it will only add that Selected Key not the Mouse movement etc, sometimes you may need to double click on the Select Key button in the list to make sure it is highlighted.
Very long winded and unintuitive system.
