Once I read the devs should have patched the strange behaviour out, so that the Epic Games Store client or website isn't opened automatically any more, but maybe that just relates to people actually having an Epic Games account or using the Epic Games client software. For others it seems to still happen? (as in your case...)
Further I remember many people having this annoying problem once they activated Crossplay and only a complete new installation of the game could solve it. But before doing this, you should give the following emergency solution a try (if not simply switching off Crossplay in the game's settings would solve the problem already):
C:\Users\[your Windows user name]\AppData\Roaming\SpinTires MudRunner
(this belongs to the Steam version only, not to the Epic Games Store version)
Having set the game to an earlier version (using Steam's rollback feature) might not allow doing this, since the Crossplay function was implemented into MudRunner with a later patch.
