Can't change language
Hi,
I can't change the game language - in properties, the "language" tab is missing, and I'm stuck with Polish in-game.

I bought physical disc Polish retail version.

1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Spintires MudRunner
2. Use winrar or 7zip to open Media.zip
3. Open "strings"
4. Delete the folder called "pl"
5. Rename the folder called "en" to "pl" (don't use quotation marks)
6. Enjoy!!

Anything? The pinned FAQ isn't helpful.

Hi Quantifier666

It seems you can only have the Polish language if using a retail Polish version.

That's what I said. I want to change to English.

Sorry, I was unclear : with a retail Polsih version, there is no other language than Polish. You can"t change it.

Why?
Apparently steam package Sub ID: 208466 contains only 3 depots: game itself, editor, and Polish language. The other 7 languages are missing, all other packages have them.

This is seriously uncool.

I bought boxed copy because I already have boxed copy of Spintires. The old one has all the languages, why wouldn't the new one have them as well?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thank you, it works.
What's even more infuriating is that I do have those files. Apparently steam depots for various languages contain no files at all. They are just dummy markers, for unlocking on-disc content.

I'm glad I could help. Now I realize why people hate on disk dlc, lol.

I'd like to add that it's not a problem only for those who bough polish version by mistake. I'm Polish and I bought retail boxed game in shop. On the box it just says "Polish subtitles" so I assumed I'll get multiple languages similarly to Spintires. It's quite normal that you get additional information if and how your language is supported.
One thing is that I prefer to play in English quite often. It lets you learn some more stuff you would not experience outside the game and it is usually most polished version as most customers will use English. Moreover, when I want to play online with foreigners it is much more convenient to see the same descriptions and names in game as others do. Otherwise I have to translate everything and not always it is perfect or understandable.
It would be ok for single player game for me but Polish in this game is messed up. I don't understand what it even means sometimes. For example in simulation mode (directly translated from Polish) broken engine "has less power and tousle". How would you understand that? What tousle means here? It does not even sound right, maybe it is tousled. I used method from above to get English and there it is. "has less power and will stall". It is so badly translated in some places that it is not worth playing in Polish if you know both languages. I heard many words for "stall" in Polish but never anything close to "tousle". In most cases it would mean "pull" in this context and it does not make sense.
Oh, and all of those texts misaligned and sticking out of boxes. It really looks like this game was designed for one language and other ones were just translated without even looking if they fit places they are in.

I'd say to developers one thing in this case. If you want to lock region on one language, at least translate it properly.

I think it's even worse than that.
"jego silnik ma mniejszą moc i stragany" translates to "its engine has less power and stalls"
Stalls, plural for stall. Stall like a... market stand. Stragan in Polish. In plural - stragany.

This just reeks of automatic translation and then never being proof-read by anyone.

Hey, it even says on the box "Professional Polish language version".
