Hopefully Snowrunner has a better support than MR in that regard.
I hate that the G25/G27 came with a good stick shifter along with extra buttons on it for many uses, wheres G29 costs more, has a basic shifter, and is sold separately!
Yes, the G25/G27 is far better than the G29 in many respects. That's why I never bought a G29. I had my first G25 for 14 years before it broke. After that I got hold of 2 G25:s and 1 G27 (all used and cheap) and they serve my whole family now, lol.

1- I went to G-Hub and created a special profile for MudRunner. It switches to this profile whenever I launch the game, and goes back to the default profile after I quit the game. This is important because we will be remapping some keys and we want the default profile to be intact for other games.
2- I remapped both of my the paddle shifters on my wheel to "R", like so:

3- These are the controls that im using in the game:

4- Now when you're driving, just click on any of the paddle shifters and then move your mouse to the desired gear. It's like using a gear stick, but instead you're using your mouse. This way you don't need to use the keyboard at all. But if you still want the best possible experience, you have to buy the stick shifter.
Fiddly but do-able i guess.
The shifter is worth it, if you have the extra cash. I don't like to use it for racing games because it is unpredictable sometimes (won't go into gear or I suck, probably the later). It's great for this and games like Trucking Sim
For the sake of completeness - SpintiresMod could be found on several Spintires/MudRunner/SnowRunner mods websites. Supporting all 3 games the tool officially is offered here[stmods.org].
It would be interesting to see if the tool could help in this matter, but I personally have no experience with that. Nevertheless, it's a tool that, in my opinion, should be installed with MudRunner as it adds technical things to the game.
In a Steam guide I offer further help for its installation with a step-by-step instruction.
