^^ That right there is a game changer and something that has bothered me about Mudrunner for years! Amazing work man! Is this something that will be getting released? Thanks.
As for the current achieved changes,
- Firstly, they are made by cheatEngine and patched to the game's exe file, so it's only a hard-coded solution. Thus this will only work on certain game version (the latest one) and have to install SpinteireMod+ version 1.10.19. Although this won't affect Steam achievements and online playing, but this is something to note.
- Still tries to optimize it somehow. Because some heavily moded maps will crash on lower-end PC, such as E3 1230 + GTX1060 combo, with this mod.
- I spent about $500+ asking people around to try reverse-engineering game's exe. For myself, I'm fine with it. I just consider this as I bought the deluxe edition of this game. But for releasing it as a mod in the future, might be released as a paid mod.
So in conclusion, it's still WIP, and will keep looking for areas to improve. (Sadly Nvidia's RTX Remix won't work on this D3D9 game though, otherwise it can overcome its poor lighting engine)
Are you currently working alone (being supported by experienced ones) or is there even a team behind the project?
What would be interesting - on what hardware are great results currently being achieved? Are there also significant performance losses or could the hardware requirement then be lower than the previous test hardware after all with a version that might be available to the public? What hardware currently would not have any problems (even with heavily modded maps)?
That SpintiresMod is needed (or in other words 'accepted') in parallel isn't necessarily a disadvantage, because all it's features are very welcomed in my mind. Until the features of SpintiresMod aren't covered elsewhere and its support for all the great mods out there is given, SpintiresMod will always be a requirement for me. But even if MudRunner's version stays at the current/last one, SpintiresMod might be updated - and thus your mod maybe as well...
I also like that even rain effects are implemented! Would it be comparable with something like dynamic weather mods or will it stay with effects for now (don't get me wrong - even just weather effects add a lot of variety and make the game even more attractive, even if they don't directly affect physics).
For my personal taste, the particle effects in the swamp glow a bit too much, but maybe there will be adjustment options or whatever... as you mentioned, it's WIP and all that has been achieved so far is absolutely great!
Another thing, that would be important to me for sure - will multiplayer still be possible (even with unmodded game versions)?
Regarding a paid version - I definitely will be willing to pay for that mod. All the invested work needs to get something in return!
I don't know, if my skills would be interesting for your project and helpful but later this year I might have some time (and a better computer). I'm interested in your plan, what tasks will come up and where help might be needed!
My programming skills are very little by now, but I would like to increase these skills. For 3dsmax I've worked with it years ago (even newer versions now would be different, I guess). Usually I'm very dedicated into what I'm doing. I've no skills in texturing yet but if that is what really consumes time, sure... why not. Everything could be learned. I would be happy to actively contribute to your work.
After I've finished the German localization of MudRunner, there is a different programming project I'm already into, then I'm very open for new things :) I already thought about mods for MudRunner, but these would primarily include modifying trucks to make them more realistic (and not overpowered like many user created ones are).
