MudRunner with mods on Steam Deck
MudRunner already received a Steam Deck compatibility certification and seems to be playable without any restrictions (update what a Steam Deck compatibility certification actually means). Also the Steam Workshop is available on the Steam Deck, another plus point for MudRunner, as this game just lives on its great modder community and the main game itself would offer far too little, but makes a great sandbox!

Unfortunately, it's also a fact that the game lacks essential things, which fortunately the modification 'SpintiresMod' supplies. However, the small tool can't be obtained via Steam Workshop, but only via an external source, and the game itself would also be started directly via this mod. Even some community mods require SpintiresMod as a mandatory prerequisite.

I've been flirting with Steam deck for some time and MudRunner (with its great mods) will probably remain one of my favorite games for a long time. Does anyone have experience how and if using SpintiresMod (through Valve's Proton) is possible?

Yes mods are usable if they come from the Workshop.

I can't get my Xbox controller to work with the game in docked mode for some reason so can't play it anyway.

My whole Deck hangs and then crashes when I get to the mods section on the vehicle select screen. It's fine otherwise, can play mod maps with default vehicles.

Sorry for necro posting. I successfully play SpintiresMod on my Linux desktop. Suppose it will run smooth on SteamDeck too. I can write guide if some body need it.

So far there has been no solution and the Steam Deck is still relevant and interesting. So, don't worry about the old post. Some things just take time :)

Anyway, it's great news! In my opinion, SpintiresMod definitely belongs together with the Steam version of MudRunner, but I simply have no experience how and how well it works on Linux.

But before you go to the trouble of writing a guide... does SpintiresMod have full compatibility on your Linux system? Are all features of the exe file possible? (light sync in multiplayer mode, tracked vehicles, larger maps, free cam, dev tools, etc.)?

If you are willing to write a guide, I won't hold you back! I think sooner or later it definitely will help someone (or me at least). And I very appreciate your invested time!

There is also a discussion about mods not working at all on Steam Deck. Have you experienced the same effect on Linux (maybe without SpintiresMod and does it work now with the mod tool)?

Advanced settings work for me. Lager maps work. Light sync can't test because I have no friends playing SPmod. Tracked vehicles didn't tested (give me a link to some good to play tracked truck). Free cam... I played with camera settings in "advanced" menu and reverted to defaults. Dev tools, how can I check them?
This non standard map works for me https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2608775781
I'm already working on guide and need some help. How can I avoid ANNOYING "Falure code 15" error every time I press "save" button. Looks like automatic system can't check my work for scam links and requires manual moderation. I've deleted all links from my guide but it didn't help. I'm enforced to wait 20-30 minutes until my edits was checked.

I'm tired with irritating "Failure code 15" and decided to release guide as is. Feel free to make comments and ask questions in comments. Grammar notes also suggested because English is not my native language.

Honestly, I don't know exactly (and can't remember the failure codes), but I think I got that error as well several times... In my experience, you need to wait a little bit after each step (where Steam needs some time, e.g. verification vs. too many requests etc.). If it continues with a specific guide, you could try creating a new one instead. Very rarly (but I remember it also happened to me) the verification system needed a lot more time, like you mentioned. One needs to be patient in this case. Usually I'm preparing a draft offline or using a second 'backup guide'. In my opinion, a lot of things with Steam are very cumbersome, I feel you.

An example for a tracked vehicle is 'Бт361а-01 Тюмень'. The tracks only appear and work with SpintiresMod.
For the dev tools you can check on them via entering settings in the game > Advanced settings > tab/category 'gameplay': Enable 'Allow cheats' and then also switch on 'Always show dev tools' (with regard to SpintiresMod version 1.12.9). The dev tools (tool box you might know from the so-called proving ground) should be available then for usual maps as well. If the tool box is there, its features should work :)
But as advanced settings and bigger maps already work for you, all other features from SpintiresMod may work as well, I guess.

If all necessary things are already mentioned in your guide, I think its good to go. Thank you for the contribution to the community! :)

EDIT: corrected mode designation slightly

Works without any noticeable bugs. Traveled on it from firs garage to second one on the map The Bog.

Nice!

I've updated the guide. Now you can install mods in GUI mode without command line usage.
