Best maps for single player?
I'm not interested in playing online. But I also don't want to play some map that is too ridiculously long to complete alone. I've played "Roadtrip" for months until May and ended up frustrated with it.

FYI MudRunner disables multiplayer entirely if you have a mod installed, so all mod maps are single player. Some players have found a way to hack around that, but I haven't attempted anything like that yet so I don't know how functional it is.

Here's a pretty solid map that is not too long:
http://www.mudrunnermods.com/object-13-map-v08-06-18/

It's small, simple, and very well designed. Probably the best map I have found yet.

Although, it might depend on your play style. I never start a map with a truck, I always use my choice of c-class vehicle (usually the A-496) and then use whatever trucks I find on the map. For me, this map was a lot of fun.

Boothbay Harbor is another really good one.

It's a bit on the harder-end of the difficulty scale, but it's a pretty cool map with a fun, simplistic design.

Also, do you have the American Wilds DLC? "Grizzly Creek" is a good top-quality map. It's just fun to play in. Relax, take your time, just cruise around on the highway with your log loads. It's an ideal map for playing with the B-130.

When you feel like you are ready for a big one that you can savor for a while, here's a very good map that was posted just a couple days ago:
http://www.mudrunnermods.com/grandfather-cyberrunner-map-v1-1/

It really is top-notch. The creator set the bar high. The only reason I haven't mentioned it earlier is because I was enjoying it too much.

What do you mean disables MP? You can play mods in multiplayer or both and with friends no problem.

When a mod installed, the multiplayer screen simply says, "Multiplayer and multiplayer achievements are disabled." Remove the mod, and it goes back to normal. That's about as disabled as it gets. If you know an easy way around it, please share. I'm curious about multiplayer and want to figure out how to do it sometime.

Mapmods work fine in MP. I never had any problems.
But I do most SP lately. If you still are looking for good SP maps (in my opinion), I posted a list over here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/675010/discussions/0/5051317596394096533/
Some are quite long and offer a bit of a challenge, but with sound strategies most are fine with a balanced setup.

With some recent experimenting, I've discovered that only some mods disable multiplayer, and some others don't. I haven't figured out the difference yet, and it's irritating because it seems like all the best ones are the ones that disable multiplayer, and only a bunch of crummy ones don't.

But I will say that since I've had a chance to see what multiplayer is like, I can hardly enjoy single player anymore. Multiplayer is very hit and miss because so many players like cheese or "play" on casual mode (as if there is anything left to play when you take half the game away). Also there are very few players who can communicate in english, which is bad for me, personally, since I don't know any other languages. And even when you do find a good game, the host is probably going to quit five or ten minutes into it. But, it's five or ten minutes of heaven.

Back on the topic of single player maps, here is another really nice one that was published just recently.

I actually haven't played the whole thing because I rolled my B130 before I found anything to recover it with, and I was too tired and iritable to restart from the beginning so I just quit right there. But, from the parts of it I saw, it was a very nice map. I will probably give it another try soon.

To be honest I quit online gaming years ago. I don't like having to rely on others to have fun. Had my fair share of frustration with Team Fortress 2 and other games, and my little brother still likes to yell and moan at his screen when playing Rocket League, LoL and similars. I don't want that for myself.

MudRunner clearly wasn't meant for you to do every single task on a map, it can get frustrating. But I certainly prefer that to having to deal with some of the stuff Gyrant describes. Plus, I just don't have any IRL friends who play the same games as me. Here, that is a luxury unless you play massive mainstream games like PES or GTA V (which I avoid).

Not sure where you got this from?! MudRunner had full workshop support nearly from the start. There are over 1000 maps and none of these will disable MP.

Not sure how you could be not sure where I got it from.

Unless you simply never tried, in which case, now you can be sure.

As you can see from the image, It is exactly as I described in my earlier comment.

I guess you are trying to install mods manually and not from the workshop. Because mods in multiplayer shouldn't even be active until the host selects them.
Gyrant Jan 21, 2021 @ 2:54pm
Workshop mods do it, too, but not all of them. I have found some that work (since this thread began), and played with them in multiplayer. I just wish I could figure out the difference between the ones that do or do not disable multiplayer.

@n.chiri: I find a lot of fun in playing SP. I usually divide a full map into 3 phases: 1) Explore, 2) Logistics setup, 3) Deliver. Most (good) mapmods take (for me) around 13-15 (real) hours so with time pace set to 1:1, I end up finishing the map(s) just before midnight (in-game). A full day + dusk + a couple of dark hours (if necessary).

@Gyrant: I've probably played 50+ mapmods and never encountered a single one that did not work in MP. Strange that you are having problems (hope you solve it).

I do the same and enjoy the first two phases most, when starting to delivering logs I lose interest. Most fun is enabling the garages and recovering vehicles.
