Spintires MudRunner Plus Mod isn't working (Help)

So I installed the mudrunner plus off spintire.nl (https://spintires.nl/spintires-mudrunner-mod-new-spintires-plus-mudrunner/) and installed it. It installs as a adobe acrobat document for some reason. So I used 7-zip to extract the file and then got the install.exe. I followed the setup wizard and all was successful. The program launched and I selected the "spintires mudrunner directory" (just like all the tutorials do) and clicked the install button. The selected the folder that contains spintires mudrunner.exe then applied and pressed okay. When I run the game in the settings the advanced option doesn't display and I can't get the mod/mudrunner plus to work

spintire.nl is a site I wouldn't download anything from... ads, adware, confusing links, malware in the waiting.
SpinTiresMod is normally updated shortly after a mudrunner update, to bring it to the current game version.
