Some vehicle grilles are ♥♥♥♥ed up
The front grill on some vehicles look nothing like the ones on their irl counterparts. It's like they mixed it up. The Gaz-66 has a Kamaz grill, the Kraz's grill is horizontal instead of vertical and so on.
And don't tell me that "hurr-durr, it's because licensing and ♥♥♥♥", because the earlier version of this game had the masks as they should be.

Everybody will tell you that "hurr-durr" man. The earlier episode belonged to a small nonsense publisher, who had only this game in his repertoire. But the new publisher, Focus Home is a big company, and they are probably more experienced in law problems. Check out their other famous simulator series. FS 2011 was the last, which included unlicensed vehicles with fantasy name but same look as the real ones. From FS 2013 til todays FS 17, you can find only licensed machines, except for some little equipments. That's how the current gaming industry works. Mudrunner is not an indie title now. You can't find this "i modelled a real vehicle, but i give it different name" trick among mainstream titles.
As you can see, the certificated mods have the proper realistic look, so this grill-swap idea wasn't Pavels dream.
Looks weird anyway, i agree with that.

2 things.
1) Why would changing only the front grill be enough to avoid lincensing problems, while the rest of the vehicle crearly looks as the real one?
2) You can use vehicles with real looks without using the real brand, just look for example in Euro Truck Simulator 2, where the Mercedes trucks were called "Majestic", despite they looked exactly like a Mercedes with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up logo.
Bonus) Most of these truck factories "died" with the ussr, who would sue them for using their trucks?

Are there licensed vehicles in GTA V?

No but they aren't looking like any of the real life cars that should be their counterparts.

And these truck factories that died with the USSR...
Ther are several companies still running. For example, Ural and UAZ are both going still I believe.

Jules, no. Ther are no liscenced vehicles in GTAV. They look at real ones for inspiration and will sometimes recreate ones in game so they look similar, but they're not the same thing. Sometimes they combine vehicles.
There's a recent super that was added that has a Ferrari tail (Don't ask which car, I don't know) and the nose of a Saleen S7. The Futo is based on the coupe version of the AE86 car with the Levin facia. The armoured truck that I can't remember the name of looks like the Ghurka truck.

1. They wanted to change only the required minimal, to stay with realism.
2.ETS2 is several years old. They purchased all rights very soon after release date, i think Mercedes was the last in 2014.. We don't know the current 2017 law about this theme. You can't find a mainstream, well published title currently, who has a brand new game with that ets2 trick. All games have slightly changed vehicles or fully lice4nsed ones.
Bonus: fast all truck companies are living and working currently, only Zil is down. Kamaz, Ural(Gaz Group), Kraz(Ukraine), Zaz(Ukraine), Kirovets and Maz(Belarus) still exist.

This is a joke right? Literally every single car in that game is based on a real life counter part. Hell, Franklin's charger even has the same monocle-style tail light that the older chargers used to have. The Calvacade looks exactly like an Escalade, the Obey's look exactly like Audis...I could go on and on.
