Wheel support + gameplay?!
Hi there,

i havent played any spintires but the MudRunner version looks awesome. Does it support Racing Wheels? like my T-300 Thrustmaster?

What is the gameplay like? is it just go from A to B or can you make money to buy stuff?

Well, can't say for your model, but my friend managed to get his Logitech G27 to work with no problems.

It's sandbox, so yeah, it's A to B transfering of logs, fuel for the truck of your friend, which ran out of fuel while transfering logs, etc.

You don't buy anything, you just mod your truck near the garage ingame for your needs.

Check the pinned threads to see info about the game and controllers.

T-300 is supported, see http://steamcommunity.com/app/675010/discussions/0/1519260397778932149/

Most wheels should work, a lot of thinsg already worked with Spintires, and they now fixed it where some wheel/shifters combos did not work together, that should be working now as well. If oyu don't have an officially supported device, you may have to configure that in the options, but I expect it should work directly.

I bought the old Spintires and used my Thrustmaster T-300 and I got to say that that game is the most fu*ked up game I've ever played when it comes to setting up my wheel for it. The wheel setup screen makes no sense at all.

Is the new Spintires as bad or has the wheel setup been improved?

There's more to the game than just driving driving to point A, picking up logs, then driving to point B to deliver logs. You may have to get a truck, add a fuel tank to it, go fill it up, then go fill up an empty truck, you may have to get a truck, to replair another truck, You may need to winch/tow a truck out of a river/mud hole, you may have to pull a truck back over to it's wheel and reload it. You can transfer trailers, to other garages to "unlock" them. There is also a map that you can just run around testing vehicles on, or just drive around. There are also challenges, like hill climbing.

It's actually surprisingly entertaining, especially when you consider the theme of the game. I passed the original over multiple times, before I decided to get it. I wasn't disappointed it. This one is even better.

Thrustmaster wheels work fine. (300/500 base and different wheels and pedals, gearbox is suported)

I am just wondering if MudRunner is as hard to configure for T-300 Thrustmaster as the original Spintires is (although the T-300 is recognized, the settup is not really suited for a wheel).

I just pluged the wheel, started MR and chose wheel in config. Done.
I think the labels was right as well, but it might have been xbox labels. (Whole lot better then any racing game that only uses idiotic Numbers) :P

Did the pedals work correctly? How about the paddle shifters?

Pedals works fine, paddles nope. Need a gears stick for manual gears. At least it looked like you need it.

I don't have a gears stick and I don't plan on buying one, so how can I shift gears if I use my wheel (instead of the keyboard)?

with the mouse?

Huh? Is there some icon to click on that changes gears?

Click on the gear stick.
you might be able to map a button to it i think. On controller it is default to clicking right thumb stick.

No, you'd be using the normal A, 1, 1+, R gears. On Spintires, I used to map the function to activate that onto a wheel button (it can be done with a key press in mudrunner, too), so you press that, then move the mouse to move the stick, which works better than trying to hit the knob with the mouse.
