Fight'n'Rage VS Streets of Rage 4. I know the winner. What about you?
Good day

It is really sad to say, but developers of SOR 4 couldnt make a proper battle design. Fighting in SOR 4 is boring. No run, no escape move down, down or up,up, little amount of possible combos and opportunities to make a real slaughter

What is your opinion?

Get'em both, both games are great in a different way.

this. why does everything have to be some contest for people where they "take a side" and defy anyone else with an opinion?

grow up. but play games. have fun.

The combat in 4 is a refined version of the ones from SOR 1-3. The combat in THIS game is a mishmash of SOR, Final Fight, and Alien vs Predator.

Its not a fair comparison. One is a tribute to beat em ups in general, one is the next game in a franchise trying not to change too much so fans aren't ticked off.

Except SoR 3 had the up and down dodge, and running... <.< "Refinements" are supposed to improve...

We are blessed. We have so many choices! I was sad when beatem ups died for most of the new millenium.

Yes. Luckily we can have new beat em ups again. Hopefully capcom would bring Final Fight 1-3 to pc as well. On Xbox 360 I have the "Final Fight: Double Impact" game, it is so good with remastered musics and all. Too bad they did not release it on PC.

Sure wish Dragon's Crown would make its way to PC. =(

Yeah, I didn't like SOR4 either. The whole combat system felt cheap and unbalanced to me (played it in single player mode on Normal).

Would I like this game better? I don't care if it's basic, just as long as I don't get spammed by attacks that can't be dodged or cancelled.

Absolutely. FNR has up and down dodge, parrying. You can jump cancel attacks, throw cancel, do seriously long combos. Multiple extra gamemodes and secret moves on the main 3 characters. There's a lot of enemies, but learning to do your combos will make them easier to manage. FNR becomes more enjoyable the more you learn.

Two different games, both with strengths and weaknesses.
Instead of complaining about the lack of a run on every character (which doesn't mean characters lack mobility options), find things to enjoy in SOR4.
The way defensive specials work also makes rolling as a defensive option irrelevant, especially when simple side stepping still works as effectively as it always has in every other beat-em up.

Both have their merits; SOR4's combat system is significantly more complex than FNR, with aspects of it closer to a fighting game than beat-em up. The combo system is also more nuanced, with a risk/reward system for specials and chains that actually makes you think on your feet. In FNR, I'm going to parry as much as possible and continually spend my SP meter with very little thought given; this works even on the harder difficulties where you want to be parrying and using specials as often as possible anyway.

FNR has a more varied story, with branching paths and decisions affecting the final outcome.

If you're a fan of beat-em ups at all, there's no reason to compare them. Both are worth playing for different reasons.
But then, this is the FNR board so the answer is obvious.

combo?are you sure?if you has skilled run cancel, jump cancel, skill cancel,SOR4's combo system isn't just one grade worse.the way to check your combo skill is that finish norris black belt combo in 30s or gal's combo in 25s.

Sounds good! :)
Music - Streets Of Rage 4
Art direction - Streets of Rage 4
Combat - About the game
Boss - Fighting da rage

Combos - Kind equal
Character diversity - Streets of Rage 4

Both are great really, no one putting a gun to your head saying you can't enjoy both, so by all means.

I do wish this had proper online mode though, wanted to play (and would have gifted) to a friend.

Music? Yes. Very. Like, not even close.

Doesn't matter hold old a game is, good is good, bad is bad. And i'm here to play a Beat Em up, not DMC. SOR4 has them steamlined purposefully.

Can enjoy both games anyway so *shrug* who cares.

Not put a dash/run in SoR4 is a step back, but still a good game.
