Unlockable Characters Worth?
Obviously this delves into spoiler terriority, but there any noteworthy unlockable characters? If so who, on the fence about buying this

From the couple I've seen (the cat guy and the whip girl), they're exactly what their NPC selves are: shallow, one-move spamming fodder. Even their "supers" seems like ineffectual afterthoughts.

It's a shame, too, because it's a nice addition to have -- playable baddies. But, sadly, they're no more fleshed out in Battle Mode, than the grunt punching bags they're primarily designed to be for the main game -- thus, aren't much fun to play as (much less, grind to unlock).

If you're buying this expecting the three main characters to have an equipollent roster accompany them, you'll be disappointed. The main game is decent (albeit, a little repetitive and mashy... as well as kinda difficult--on single-player / "Normal"), but the extras are more than filler (to try justify the price tag, methinks...) than anything else.

I'd like a sequel to this to incorporate a bigger, fully-fleshed-out roster -- usable in the main story / arcade mode, as well in versus (etc.) play. The game's mechanics aren't bad and have plenty of room for expansion -- more attack buttons, more special and super attacks etc.. The substratum is there, so is the potential.

(...Also, the US$20 price tag risks cutting FNR's nose of to spite its face.)

Well yeah. This option is just here as a novelty, so you'll have more stuff to unlock.
That feature's also a nod to some old beat them ups.

Some of the later enemies are probably more fleshed out move wise, like the doberman boxers and the muay-thai birds.

I'm dissapointed you can't use unlocked characters in arcade mode. Makes it pointless to unlock things for me now.

It's a bit like the extra characters in Guardian Heroes, you can only play as them in the 'extra' modes, and they don't have full move sets.

You can't use the unlockable bosses in story mode, even? Not even that adorable fox girl?

Seriously, what. Why? SoRR did it right, you can play Shiva, Mr. X, Rudra and more in the main campaign. Adds a ton of replay to the game, especially mastering the different playstyles of some of the more exotic characters like Rudra, Ash or Electra.

I wonder if it might be possible to mod it in...

Or perhaps with enough luck, they could update it in a future patch.

As soon as I can verify this I will, but apparently the Minotauro boss is playable. And you can own the game with him. I don't know what conditions exist for being able to do that, however. When I find out, I'll respond to this post.

But like other folks, I want to play as the whip girl and the fox girl in a regular game somehow.

Minotauro is more or less Ricardo in the first place. Isn't it a skin?

THIS, THIS RIGHT HERE. LITERALLY ALL OF MY THIS.
I would *love* to see some of the characters that have dialogue show up as playable unlocks!

That said, it's something I think would be really cool, *if* it can be fit in to the dev timeline.

All of those SORR characters recieved extensive additions over several years to make their movesets on par with the main cast. I would certainly love this, but I won't hold my breath. I'm perfectly happy with how great the main game and heroes are.

pretty much this. I still think it's a fantastic game as I paid a ton more for the original Streets of Rage it it only had three characters. Luckily I like all 3 characters.

Also, does Ricardo have any other special hidden moves? I know about the uppercut but does he have anything else other than his special and his power bomb?

Nah... i'm almost 100% that's all.
If there was more someone would already figure it out, even by accident... maybe some new moves will be added in future patches ?
Who knows... would be pretty awesome.

Also adding new characters for arcade mode would greatly increase replay value, but with current ending pattern it might be... troublesome :ghost_shock:

the dude needs like a german suplex or a SPD or something. Just like one more move that will make him a little more exciting. I'd go for a suplex tho

Probably the most fleshed out extra character is Diane (fox girl) and even then she doesn’t have as many moves as the main 3. She’s enjoyable to use, though, since she combos fast and fluid. The runner up would be the Ninja but he’s basically a worse Norris. Minotauros has very few moves but is stupid strong.

Doberman isn’t all that great, unfortunately. He has one combo and on special. Still kinda fun to use. Monkey and Muay Thai birds are neat, too. They’re slow but satisfying.

Everyone else is whatever
