Exact Hat Count?
Is anyone sure of how many hats there are in the game? So far I'm thinking it's 23, but I dunno. It's hard to get them to spawn in the first place, and I'm 90% certain some are locked away till you knock it off a grumpus.

There's at least 23. I've heard rumors of two that show up temporarily around holidays, but don't know how accurate that is.

ETA: I do have a list over here.

ETA 2:
According to this post on Reddit, there are indeed two more.

The save I have with all the hats is in the middle of end-game content and can't get back to the barn, but I'll try to get the other two added when I get home from work tonight!

I imported my save from egs and its right before the second to last mission of the game. I haven't seen any hats at all, am I too far into the game to trigger it?

As long as you haven't started the 'point of no return', it's never too late! If you have started the party, then you can play through the finale quests, and once the credits are done rolling, you can continue from the save before the party started.

If you haven't started the party, then it's a matter of hunting for them. It can be a pain finding the first one, because you don't get any hints. You just have to wander through the areas, and listen for the chime telling you there's a hat-wearing snak nearby.

If it helps, I've never seen a hat on any 'frosty' snax, and the only fiery one I've found was a Bombino (which was annoying because it got itself blown up and I had to sleep to get the hat to respawn). I've never found it on any burrowing snak, like the pineantula, rootle, incerrito / inchwrap, et cetera, shell-wearing snax like pinkle, any hiding snax like peelbugs, snishkabug / tropicabug / instabug, the snax frozen in ice in Frosted Peak, or any snakpods at all.

They can show up on the kwookie-type snax, though. They were common, for me, on sweetieflies, sodies, sandopede / sub sandopede, white and regular cheepoofs.

I don't know if this all helps, but good luck on your hunt!

Special Conditions! Why didn't I realize that sooner? Either way, it explains why the propeller hat just won't spawn for me.

In case you're still interested, I've finally added the two holiday hats to the guide!
