Question about signed contracts that become red

Hi all,

I hope somebody can explain me the next questions about contracts.

I've signed contracts with a few companies. After some time they become red in the contracts window. I only can beak them (Renegotiate is nog available anymore for this contract). In the schedule window, I see that those contracts have many months left.
If i want to see and sign new available contracts for that company, i've to break the current contracts first, otherwise the new contract won't show.

In a few cases (with some companies) i've to break a lot of contracts to sign a few new ones. But the total income of the broken contracts was higher then the newly signed contracts.

Why do contracts become red, while they have many months left?
How can i prevent them becomming red?
Why can i only see and sign new contract after breaking current contracts?
why should I break them when the new contracts are worth less?

Contracts that are red are affectively ended by the airline but keep going due to the contract. These red ones can be broken with no penalty to pay. It is a good way to clear space for newer better ones. The only time it is worth keeping these going is if you cannot yet service the newer contracts due to lack of certain services. Keeping the old ones going at least keeps an income coming in.
