Range of feeders
Does anyone have information about the exact range of the animal feeders? I've noticed the far away animals don't benefit from them but not sure how far exactly it affects them. Anything would be of great help :D
Edit: Not sure if it's the range of there is a number of animals you can attach to one.

They don't have a range THey attach to the field you stick them in and help feed the animals there. Exactly how feeders work is very complicated, I don't really understand all of it. But basically, I think each feeder can support 12 animals for half of their feeding cycle.

Ok, from what I've experimented so far, it's not about the quantity of animals or the range, but about how many different types of animals you put under one feeder. For example, every type of chicken counts as a different type, therefore if you combine it with the rest the feeder won't feed it. I am about to check if it supports 1,2 or 3 types. So far infinite amount and range with just Leghorn chickens (I have over 20).

2 types of chickens seem to work as an optimal build per feeder, so for every 2 new types of pig/chicken/cow etc you would need a new feeder. Thank you for the help:3

The feeder cycles thorugh different types of animals. So for example, it'll pick the white chickens to feed first (sorry, can't remember the technical names :) ). After the feeder's empty, it'll pick the next type of chicken. It can't feed two different animals at once since each animals requires a different amount of money to feed it.

Huh, like I said in my last comment, I thought the feeder could only feed one type of animal at a time. Maybe I mis-understood how they work. Anyway, no problem! Glad I could help!

Hello,

The feeder will work for a single animal field connected to it. If two different fields are connected to it (such as pigs on one side and chickens on the other), only one of them will be used (each side has different priority).

An animal field includes all types of compatible animals (such as all types of chickens), so no matter the distance it should help increase their capacity. The relative amount of animals is taken into account (so for example if you have 20 chickens of one kind and 5 of another, the capacity would increasy approximately in 12 tiles for the first one and 3 for the other one).

Still not sure I understand that

sorry, but this confuses me more than before - i havent understood. Can you please explain the feeders again more detailed? And which animal you can put together?
may i put together 2x5 chicken (2 types) and also put in this field 5 pigs? and how many feeders do i need for this field? do i bonus if i put more than 1 feeder to this field? do feeders last longer if i put more of them to field?

Update: I've been struggling for the past million hours with the feeder trying things and it seems it is as Bramblestar mentioned, there is some amount of animals you can have, so even if you do mix for example 10 leghorn chickens and 10 ducklings, the ducklings would only get food for the first 10 minutes instead of 15, and the remaining 5 minutes they would starve. So the feeder has probably a capacity of around 12 animals it could have attached to it, up to 2 types of matching animals. (Please correct me if I am wrong, Ive been trying hard to figure this out) :D

I gave up trying to figure it out. lol The more animals I have in a field, the more feeders I place down. And I re-fill them whenever I realize they're empty.

Sorry but I really can't. The way feeders work is complex, because they have to deal with the complexity of merged animal fields.

Answering your specific questions:
Animals of the same type can be usually put together. On top of that:
* Ducks and chickens can be put together
* Goat and Sheep can be put together
* Horses, Alpacas and Donkeys can be put together

No, you can't put pigs and chickens in the same field.

The "maximum" number of feeders is one every 15 tiles in a field. More than that won't have any effect.

agree - big thx - for this info: that explains at least the most of my questions and its a bit more clear for now
the following was important to know:

(especially the last point about maximum)
