Can we have a 'Friends Only' privacy setting for farms?

I know I can set friend permissions differently, but I'd really appreciate if I could just have my farm visible/visit-able only to people I know and it seems odd there isn't a setting for it already. Please devs!

I think if your farm is set to "private" then only your Steam friends can join it.

I tried but they couldn't join. Maybe it bugged out for me, I'll try it again.

I once had my farm on private and one of my steam friends came in .... surprised me too cause i thought .. ok private .. noone can come in ...

I didn't realise that friends could visit private farms. I thought my farm had to be set to public for them to visit me. Knowing this, I'm going to change my settings back to private :)

I can confirm that changing to private still allows your friends to visit you. I switched mine back to private after reading this thread and a friend came around to help me out not long afterwards :)

Not really, your steam friend's friend can join your farm too, and also their friend

I had mine set to private though and my daughter wasnt able to find me. So I changed it to Local and she still couldnt, so I dont get what youre supposed to do here.

Can someone explain exactly what the Local setting does?
I've only used Public and Private.

I believe local would probably allow people on your network to visit you. For example my boyfriend share the same internet connection. If he played and i set myself to local, he'd probably be able to see my farm and visit. Just a guess as that's how other game's local settings have worked.

I thought local means completely private, as in invisible in the list of farms

So I'm pretty sure you're invisible in the list.
However I'm unsure if your friends can still see when you are in your game (through steam) and thus join.

Hello,

Mmm, "Private" should be enough to prevent the game from appearing on the "Find Farms" section, however if the visitor added your farm to favorites he could still join after that.

Anyway, if you want nobody to join your game, you can set your farm visibility to "Local". This way it doesn't create an online session.
