If they did not add these extra currencies to the game it would be too easy, everything costing just diamonds and coin which are already easy enough to farm like mad. If you were here at the beginning of the game all we had were diamonds and coins, so high level players had less to be interested in when it came to new content.
So I wouldn't consider this an 'app' port.
Tickets I find easy to get - I don't bother with the paintings or piano - just make sushi. You can place 2 stoves - so just make sure you have something like rice or a grain crop planted, and some fish - and then you're good to go.
I find getting enough medals is much harder - as the easiest way for those is to plant masses of apple, mango or tamarind trees and harvest them all each season to make jam, but that is still a massive grind. The higher your farm level is, the more resources are needed to complete the quests - but not everyone wants to have hundreds of plants/animals just to complete quests quicker. So those become a real grind.
Most items in the lower levels are short-term ones (less than an hour to complete, specially if watered) so you don't need to log off if you don't want to. Of course you're free to plant whatever you want, and adapt to your own timetable, but aside from the first 30 or 60mins (where I must admit it may be a bit slow due to the lack of money and the fuel pump), there should be always things to do, as long as you watch over the expenses.
As for currencies, TheVoidRose is mostly right about it: Different currencies are obtained in different ways and serve different purposes, so there's more variety of things to do. Also, for example you can spend diamonds in decoration knowing that it won't affect your farm's productivity, etc.
I'll admit adding the tickets currency was a dangerous move, as a fourth currency was maybe a bit too much, and it's still an underused currency. However we wanted to add something that required entering the houses to earn it.
I know you guys consider the suggestions, I looked over there earlier, which is really cool, I'm really interested in seeing where this game goes, and how it changes (for the better :D), and hopefully lose that "app" feeling.
I don't think it's the number of currencies. All the products are currencies too anyway since there is no market and no price fluctuation and no trading with other players. For me this stuff is working nicely, it's actually good that there are so many interlocking currencies because if this was trivial to figure out I'd probably end up doing the same thing over and over.
On the other hand, even just having a currency called "gold" and another one called "diamonds" immediately makes me look for a "buy diamonds" button. Having something called "tickets" makes me look for gacha mechanics. Having timers on literally everything makes me look for a button that lets me skip them. I don't really think any single one of these things would do anything on its own, but Farm Together is doing all of this and it's very much in-your-face.
I don't know how or even if this could be improved, or whether it should (every farming game needs to do at least some of this), and I'm not complaining either, just wanted to add my $.02 to the thread since it definitely hit home.
