To merge or not to merge?

Can ponds and animal fields be safely merged together?
It's aesthetically better but I was under the impression that it made feeding animals a lot harder (and I'm not any close to hiring a helping hand) while at the same time fishing in other people farms with merged ponds looked flawless. And so I'm at a loss.

You can merge the animals effortlessly and without hesitation and disconnect again if you do not like the compilation. I find the feeding much easier when the animals are together.

If the animals can be joined, some animals won't merge with other types, there'll be just the one feed spot, so you could feed them in one go, just hold the mouse button in. Same with the fish, some won't merge together.

During my first attemp I tought that a single interaction was enough to feed every type of animal which is why I had issue. Thanks to the both of you, I gave merging another try and that's definitly worth it. :)
