Need help understanding ponds.
So I just got the game yesterday, and I"m a bit confused about ponds with fish. How do they work? I attached about 20 together with 5 or so different kinds of fish, but I seem to only be able to fish at one square, then have to wait for a while again. I'm not sure I understand how it all works.

What benefit is there of having all the fish together instead of making a grid of 1 size ponds so I can harvest at each individual one? Should I seperate each kind of fish into its own pond (salmon together, eels together etc.), or put them all together?

Thank you!

Hi. I am happy you purchased the game. On my farms, each fish type has its own separate "pool" or area. Some players mix some fish but from what I read not all fish can be combined together. They all have different wait times until you can harvest them again. I am not a fish expert, but there are players on here that are and I am sure they will answer your questions better than I ever could. Happy farming!

Ok, so lets say I have two tropical fish. What would be the benefit of putting them together to make one bigger pond instead of keeping them seperate? Because from what I can tell, even though I have two tropical fish together, I can only harvest one once before having to wait for both again. Whereas if I had them seperate, I could harvest each one. I know the tutorial said I would get more coins if I combined ponds, but what about fish? I have a quest right now to get 20 salmon, and I"m trying to figure out whats the best way to accomplish that: have all my salmon together and harvest them only once per wait cycle, or seperate them and harvest each one individually.

To answer your specific question, place all of the same type of fish (ex. tropical fish) together in one big pond. Then you can harvest them all together. For example, make a big pond of , let's say, 20 salmon. A tip: look in the description of each fish as each type has different percentage of success catch rates. The reason I don't place different types of fish in the same pond (some players do this) is that I want to fish each type separately as they all have different wait times before they can be harvested. Also, I can easily tell which type of fish is in which pond. But, again, that is my preference. Others may do it differently. Oh by the way, once you save up money, swordfish give you a tremendous amount of gold and experience per harvest. Many players use swordfish to level up. I have over 1,000 of them.

Thanks for the tips! They're a great help! I don't have swordfish unlocked yet, but I'll be sure to use them once they are unlocked.

I also keep all fish species separate. In basins of 9 to 18 fields. When fishing, you can make a small or large catch (sometimes nothing at all). At the same time fish of one species can be fished again, no matter if one or more pelvis. With 18 fields I can fish 2 times. Each in itself can be a small or large catch. Only very rarely do you get 9 fish from 9 fields. If you build fences, hedgerows or waterways between the basins, the species are also separated.

I have my fish separated by species. I use 9 to 20 fields depending on how large my farms are. PlusI label each pond for when I need the fish for quests.

I have all my fish in one huge pond LOL .. you know the expansion bit that is like inground? .. well i made that one into a lake with the lighthouse ... if i get too many errands with fish in them, i just discard one errand and get a new one hopefully with animals and plants on it ... that being said, i don't have issues getting my fish when errands require them ... and my fish markets give me diamonds for them too so ...

Fences can seperate them. However, while a fence can be inbetween to tiles of water, they can't be placed that way. If you want a type of fish seperated from the other's, you'll need to make sure that land tiles surround the fish you want seperated, then place the fences down. When you place another fish tile down on the other side of the fence, the fence will stay on a small strip of land inbetween the tiles and your ponds will be seperated.

Hopefully I explained that well enough. :)

Hi, thank you so much for your explanation! :D I think I understand what you mean.
Basically :

Step 1: Place one pond
Step 2: Put fence around that first pond
Step 3: Put 2nd pond next to first pond - TADA! Ponds are separated now.

做任务的时候你要收固定的鱼,但大鱼溏收的不好

嗯, 这点我认同....所以得分散鱼溏! 不能把所有池溏连在一起!
