New farm layout
Okay so, I have OCD in real life, but it's really bad in games. I have a level 24 farm and level 22 player level. I don't like the layout of the plots on my farm, but I don't want to restart, anyone have advice lol

Unfortunately the land areas are automatically randomly selected. I have an area that ideally would be better turned 180. All our farms are differnent.

There is the recycle farm option, it clears the land and gives you back your $$$ etc. Not sure if the layout remains the same or is randomly regenerated. I’ve not done this so don’t know.

What seems to be causing the issues for you? There may be some work around options for you.

If you are looking for ideas, you are welcome to visit me. My farm is Level 141/full map and a lot of theming, more after the challenge.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help guys, I geuss I just don't know if my layout is good or not. Like where should the plot with all the boulders and the 3 story hill go? What's a good location to have the plot with the island with the water and 2 bridges? In the corner? Towards the center? These are kind of the OCD thoughts getting to me. But these are the sorts of things I'm always thinking about

I change things around so often, so many options ...
especially during EA when there were new things just about every week

As for good ot not, everyone has different ideas, just have fun with it and try things out.
I would recommend visiting as many farms as possible for ideas...
:)

In CaesarIII, the biggest enemy were not the invaders, but the landscape... some many headaches to plan how to plan your city between hills, rivers, rocks...

I'm taking the landscape as the villain in FarmTogether :steammocking:

Play a different game.

With the current landscape available every farm will have a hard spot to work around, especialy for those with OCD. And sadly the only way to get a new layout is to create a new farm, though this will just start you out again with the first plot (which so far I noticed is the same every start) and you will have to build up again to get diamons to unlock the other plots.

So with knowing that every farm will have spots that are hard to get around or avoid, I am not evey sure if restarting a new farm is going to be that helpfull as even you don't run into the problem the first 2-3 expansions there will be an expansion that will give you a part of land that is rather challenging.

The only real solution would be that we get our hands on some kind of terraforming tools, but this has been already been said not to be implemented by the devs.

If being just blunt and useless then I would advice you to go play the game instead of sitting here ont he forum sprouting useless replies.

I have OCD myself and I've found so far that if I don't like something I've done I just redo the section I'm working on until I'm happy with it. My OCD isn't as bad in games than it is in real life though. I realised a long time ago that there's always going to be an aspect of a game that I don't like and have learnt to actually accept that and work around it. Something which I can do with learning in RL but have a hard job accomplishing!

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Will definitely be taking this into account

That's a very interesting way to look at it. A lot of my OCD is generalized but occurs in games, like oh because I was debating about restarting my farm, I'll be playing and thinking oh this is the farm I almost restarted, should I have just restarted it?

I have OCD in real life. I'll lock the front door then have to go back and check I locked it lol

I look at it this way, I'm a perfectionist, I need to make sure everything is pefect, this includes making sure my front door is perfectly locked lol

The stuff all over the maps is a real problem for me, makes my farm look messy and I just don't enjoy the layout I'm forced to adopt. I can see this being the reason I decide to shelf the game.

I've got triple height stone hills with paths each side, literally the only thing I can do is place a path from 1 side to the other with maybe a tree or two. It really grinds me.

I feel you, I've used to wash my hands for 6 hours a day. It's definitely worse in real life but it has gotten much better with therapy and meds. But in games it's a bit different, I try to keep with a layout with flaws as a form of ERP, however it's moreso the mindset of that particular world. Did I name it right? If I change it, should I delete it and just start a new one with that name from the beginning? It's very abstract and hard to explain, but can be quite annoying.

I agree that the option to remove rocks and things would be a huge benefit. Part of me likes that having those forces people not to have plain boring flat farms, and to find creative ways to theme around them - but an option to remove them (perhaps expensive so it is an option but one you'd only choose if it *really* bothered you) would be a compromise. Or having them movable but not removable. So you can choose where to place them, so it fits better with your layout.

What annoys me more than those mountains, cracks and rocks though is where the ground raises up a little, but unevenly. Since you can't put a road or any other item on one of those corner-like tiles, they are useless. I like to have things symmetrical and there are places on my farm where I can't have the same number of trees in a row because of these useless tiles... and it bothers me no end!

-- really not a good farm design for people with OCD or are very fussy with their farm layouts :D

(also the sprinklers! We need a "large sprinkler" that can be placed in the centre of a 3x3 block and will water all 9 tiles - because trying to arrange sprinklers to cover a 3x3 space in an efficient pattern doesn't make a visually pleasing arrangement :P )

Oh forsure! Don't even get me started on the sprinklers xD I mean honestly, I love the game it's just a few things could be improved. But it's still by farm probably the best farming game I've played. I played the original one on xbox 360 too and that one was also great

There is going to be an option to where you can have your farm flat not sure if it will work with recycling
