Update #18
"Changed the flower system: Now flowers will not stop growing if they run out of water, instead they will always take the same time to grow and the money earned will depend on how much time they had water. The minimum money they yield has also been increased."
There's a ring around the flower picture in the lower left. Part of it will be green and part of it is yellow. Green represents the time spent growing while watered and yellow is the time that the flower had no water.
When you harvest, you get gold and XP based upon how much of the ring is green.
(Side note: Sprinklers now seem to give 100%.)
I see it as you do.
For me, the flowers are rather a beautiful decoration in different combinations. In addition, the flowers are scattered throughout the farm and it would be a hell of a lot of effort to water them all.
My focus is more on planting and harvesting fruits and vegetables.
