Rain is part of the visual effect of Autumn.
Nu! Rain noisemakes me feel calm :'( and farming game without rain? What is wrong with you? It just needs some changes.
I don't think it would be an overkill. The developer can just adjust the time to make the growth time to go faster. Don't shorten the time, just make it go faster. Just like when you water the plants, the growth time shortens everytime you water your crops. Autumn is the only season when it rains, so it's the perfect time for players to grow those that takes about 2 days to grow. And I bet you, once your farm grows and have tons of other things to take care of you would wish the rain would help the crops out a bit. Just like in Harvest Moon (I sorely miss that game). They can also add some extra interactions between the Seasons and the crops. Like, Summer = Dried out crops or Winter = chances of crops freezing. Even during the rainy season, there's a chance that your crops can be over watered and drowns. Haha.
I love the rain too! The sound is so relaxing. But it's still early, so I am pretty sure that they will come up with something on how the season affects the crops. LIKE WINTER!! T_T But I still heart this game so far. <3
Although I feel like if they were going to make the rain decrease crop growth times maybe think about making it more RNG if you don't want it to be overkill... I mean not everyone has their wet/rainy season in Autumn :p
