[fixed] Umm... Where did my data go?
I just booted up my game and I lost everything...

All my farms...
All my levels...
I'm back to level 1.

I do have all the DLC still, but have no idea why my data is gone...

::EDIT::
The save files are present, but the game isn't reading them.
I tried verifying the files, and it didn't help.
Not sure if uninstalling would help.

=(

Hope your saves can be restored. Since they are saved currently I would make a copy of them prior to uninstalling. Reinstall and copy them back to the location Farm Together expects them to be.

Prior to all this it may be beneficial to restart your PC as that does seem to fix a lot of things, too. It could simply mean restarting Steam as well.

Tried Restarting steam: nothing
Tried Restarting computer: nothing
Tried re-installing Farm Together: nothing

This was the first time playing the game since both the steam and game updates...

I found a way to recover the data.

I looked at my files on my computer and in the cloud.... (they matched). The only new file was farms.data from 8-30-2019

>I first tried removing the newest file (farms.data) to have the cloud download it again and still be broken.

>My next thought was to delete it again and rename the .bak file as a .data file, but that would lose over 12 days of growth, and I hadn't played for 5 at the time.

>I went into the files properties (right click > properties) and did a "restore earlier version of the file". It took me to 8-25-19 and it worked.

I've closed the game a few times and re-opened it to make sure.

My Congratulations. Good work.

It's great that you share this experience with the community that will definitely help some players.

I’m not sure how you fixed it but farms.data is honestly just the menu. It’s just the file that tracks how many farms you have, what they are called, your avatar presets etc. No matter what info it says on the menu “your farms”, the real farm data is pulled from a different file once you open the farm.

I can't say why it worked, but it was the only file that changed from when it worked to when it didn't.

Glad to know you got it to work. For future reference, restoring the farms.data with the .bak file would have worked too, as MarkGrant says it holds the list of farms and avatar information, the actual farm data is saved on separate files inside the Farms folder.
