Maybe to get the current weather? xD
Schoolboy error.
If you can get the game to go offline that would be great. Can you reply with the results of your test? Thanks.
1. Disabled statistic reporting in the game settings.
2. Log into steam in offline mode (which is only semi offline) Game worked.
3. Disconnected (physically) my network connection. Verified no internet connection. Game still works with a warning on the main menu that the game can not connect to the servers. I dont know what servers or why.
Be aware that when you choose to log into steam in offline mode you are still connected to various servers so the only real test is to unplug your network cable.
Thanks for this info, its good to know that the game doesnt need an official server to run. I have a few games that cant run anymore because the devs abandoned them and shut their servers down.
I also would like to know if it is still being developed, last i heard was they were taking a break, but that was december, nothing since then.
The "servers" are likely just farming some personal data from clients, there is no online component/multiplayer of any kind. The devs posted a google docs link that got flagged as malicious files so who knows what sketchy code they buried in the game...
If you dont want sketchy code in your PC dont hook it up to the internet and dont use any Microsoft software. The name of the game today is how much info can we extract from each connected device.
