Can't eat the food.
There is some kind of bug here. I definitely have enough food being delivered, there are plenty of tables with space at the tables, they are reachable, there is enough staff, I have people actually EATING at the tables. But there are people outside the cafeteria in the hall complaining that they can't get food and they're starving. Heaps of people are leaving my school for this reason. I though it might have been the third freshman classroom I built, but it can't be that because they can't be too far away when they are right next to the cafeteria door!

I had this problem before. During lunch periods, keep an eye on the food counter and watch the food. If it disappears you have this problem. I bought a 2nd (and then a 3rd) food counter, bought a 2nd stove and hired a 3rd kitchen staff. My problem was solved. I don't know exactly what numbers of staff/items works best, but that was how I solved my problem. Hope that helps.

Well, unless the figures have changed this is still a bug, even if that's the case. My understanding is that a cook can cook up to 60 meals, and that a fridge holds 100 meals. I have 149 students and about 25 staff - and all 4 classes eat at a different period between periods 3 and 6. They are catered by 3 stoves, 2 fridges, 3 bain-maries, 3 plate counters, loads of tables/benches and 6 cooks. With these figures that should be more than enough to cater for the people I have. I'll try putting in another stove - that's the weakest part of my set-up, but it's saying that there are 29 people not eating - that's not possible if the figures I have on what is cooked per cook and what is in each fridge are correct.

You may be right. Just curious where did you get figures from? Or any figures?

From the internet somewhere. I don't know. Perhaps they are either wrong or old or incorrect. ??

Hi Frannilea, just a question are the students dropping out, or do they just show as unhappy in the reports menu? The way the eating in the cafeteria works is that students 'reserve' slots on the table, so some of those empty table spaces may have already been reserved by a student, on the way to the cafeteria.

Right now, it takes cooks an hour to cook meals, so if you run out of food in the food counter students won't be able to eat until an hour later. You can try building more refrigetators + stoves + food counters.

If this doesn't solve the problem please send us your save file so we can check.

I would let them eat between 10 and 12 o clock. I have now about 200 Students I think, 27 tables/2 benches each of course, 8 Cooks, 4 dishwashers 4 or 5 fridges and in the cafeteria I have 4 Foodcounters with 4 plate things.
I think 3 and 6 is too late. If you have your students eat that ate no wonder they say bye bye :) lunch is called lunch because there is lunchtime and it is 12 o clock usually or not? I recommend letting them eat between 10am and 1pm or something like that. I had the problem in the first year and then it was ok. Maybe that helps.
