Good School Design - A How To Guide
As school architects, we should always have the best interests and well being of the pupils and staff foremost in our minds. Schools are not prisons. And they are not ants nests either. So with that in mind the following should be observed...

1) All rooms should have windows that look outside. So when a dog comes onto the school premises everyone in class can get up and rush to the windows to watch as the janitor tries to chase it away.

2) No narrow dark corridors. Bullies lurk in dark corridors.

3) Classrooms should be large enough to prevent pupils and staff having to climb over furniture to get from one end of the room to the other.

4) Toilets shouldnt have windows in.

5) Some classrooms can have the odd bookcase or extra table in or maybe more than one chalkboard.

6) Try to aim for 20 pupils in each class. The first year class rooms should never have more chairs than the higher years. Cos otherwise when they move up a class someone will have to stand at the back of the room for the whole lesson.

7) Have the staff rooms near the staff toilets. That way they don't have to walk far when they have been drinking coffee all day.

8) Put a few tables in the kitchen. After all, would you want to eat food that has been prepared on the floor?

9) Corridors are good places to put lockers.

10) Check new arrivals to see if you have a snitch. If left with the general population, snitches will get shanked.
