What's the goal of the game?
I have to say all I do it try and look for games like this. The management games are all I try and do and there are no good school games. So when I saw this, I just wish it pans out. Just looking over the concept, what is the goal of the game? Is it to have the "best" school? Or can you have other goals, like having the top graduation rate, top sports team, top dance team or something like that?

If it’s about having the top ranked school overall, there needs to be ranking or different categories that the school must rank high in to get a better over all ranking. You should have 3 major categories Academics, sports and arts. Academics is test scores, graduation percentage, overall grades. Sport should be any combination or all of boys football, girls softball, boys/girls soccer, boys/girls basketball. Arts are any combination of glee club, dance team, gymnastics, cheerleading or any competing club. I think any school management type of game has to put these into it.
This would make hiring good teacher a must, good teachers would cost more, causing you to think about your budget. Hiring good coaches or spending on top notch equipment or deciding on a harder practice schedule which could risk players grades falling, are all a must to improve your team, but also cost money. Hiring good instructors, training, and overall physical improvement methods (gym, yoga, etc) are a must to improve your art teams, but also cost money.
These are just some ideas I’ve always had for a school game and I hope this game incorporates some of these ideas along with some of the other great ideas I’ve already read.

I for one will be watching to see how the game comes along and make sure to support by buying.

The goal of the game is to create the most prestigious school, while at the same time maintaining the quality of education for the students. So some sort of prestige mechanic will be implemented, and the player gains prestige by having their students excel in academics, competitions(both sport and academic competitions), and maybe even by being progressive(think Finnish schools). For the last one, I'm still researching how to turn 'unorthdox' education systems into something game like so I can't promise anything yet. Anyone reading this have suggestions, feel free to chime in!

You know what, the universities here rely on something called FTIC ( shorthand means first time in college ) and what they do is the schools follow the academic progress of those students who came to university from high school anf follow their progress each year until they graduate and its the percentage of those students who are FTIC that graduate that determines how much money the university gets. ( special note FTIC does not take into account transfer students )

a similar function could be implimented here by which instead of looking at first time in high school you measure prestige by placing a target graduation rate and then looking at your actual graduation rate ( in my success story mine was a measly 1.7% graduation rate) the closer you come to the target rate the more money you earn ( likely a federal/state grant).
additionally you could dock money for every student who drops out/fails senior final exam.

this is how i would make prestige work

It's one of the most idiotic things that happens in Universities and schools.

Universities should be based on student skill development and statisfaction, their contribution to science and society.

Not how many people you can poop out with a diploma (we have similar system here in NL)

true whats worse is that our system doesnt even take into account transfer students and some schools are have far more transfer graduates than FTIC grads

Not sure how complicated the creators of this game want to get, but there should be grants given to the schools based on a number of things, that's how you would make money in this game. Winning competitions could earn you money too, that's why you want to build a top sports team, arts team and this is why you would want your school to rank higher, so you earn more money. Everything to improve your school should cost money and a improved school should earn more money, this is what will make decisions in the game. Should you spend the money to bring in the top coach, teacher or instructor, will the pay off be enough?

I'm not going to bring up a lot of how the "real" world works, just my ideas of how to creat a fun and interesting school management game.
