Honestly? It's trial and error. If you're the erudite type, do the shooting gallery's moving targets with your favorite scope (8x and under, preferably) and get a feel for how bullet travel time is and when the drop starts to kick in. You've got bullet trails so you should be able to get a feel for it quickly. If you learn via "trial by fire" just hop into a 127v127 server and go wild with recon.
Best advice I can give is "just play the class", you're not gonna develop the muscle memory to know how far to compensate for movement and distance otherwise. All the theory in the world pales in comparison to skill developed by practice. Remember that bipod is for the scopes in the long range category, and that you should grab an underbarrel rail that gives you the best ADS time when using medium range scopes. I don't think I need to remind you that all long range scopes emit a glint.
wait what. how do you zero???
Why the 8x? I use the 8x on most 64v64 maps and some of the 127 ones. but some, like waki, i feel the 16x is better.
Shout out to basic extension, always available, real mvp.
