I agree. Helicopters need a massive overhaul.
I don´t even bother shooting at them anymore. All it does is give my position away to enemy ground Forces.
I assume you're talking about me? It's easy to mix up the acronym really. Especially if you have dyslexia. I don't really see it as a big deal if I'm being honest. But since I was corrected I will keep that in mind in the future.
♥♥♥♥♥. Sure go to BF4. Those pilots are untouchable there too because they had 10 years to perfect their flying.
Just like in BF4 or in Natural Selection with the fades... If you have any class or role that can go 100+ kills with 0 deaths, you've created something frustrating to every other player in the game, no matter how much skill that thing takes to pull off.
The littlebirds going around 100 kills are the ones playing aggressive and could have been one shot by a tank at any point in the game but never were. Or they could have been harassed by infantry ground to air bullets but never were. Tanks can pull those numbers too whenever the enemy team ignores them and does not carry anti-tank gadgets. But that's incredibly rare and never happens anymore.
I went LMG once and tried to kill one of those for a prolonged time. I was leading as best I could and hurt him a few times (white crosshair), but it clearly wasn't enough because he kept going and ultimately went 100+/0 something. Just like the few others I've been seeing on both my own and the hostile team. All while I was doing that I was drawing tons of aggro from snipers, tanks/LAVs or regular gunmen on the ground and couldn't live for long.
Maybe if some of my teammates had done the same, went LMG and focused that Littlebird too that could have worked. But they rarely shot back from what I had seen. It probably shouldn't need like 3+ (support) players all giving away their positions and wasting tons of ammo just for the vague hope of potentially shooting one of those skilled pilots.
That being said: I really don't want to be that person, but I'm surprised no one is calling hacks on these. They almost have pinpoint accuracy, they always seem to know where enemies both in groups but also lone stragglers are despite being in constant movement, they rarely seem to miss their shots if ever at all. The few times I flew Littlebird I could hardly see enemies, let alone hit anything. Maybe they are just well trained and well beyond what someone like me could ever hope to pull off. But there are so many threads on the presumable trizillion cheaters this game has yet nobody seems to accuse those 100+/0 Littlebird pilots of being that? Am I missing something here?
I'm still not sure if dedicated AA is the best way to deal with this. Clearly many other Littlebird pilots aren't this skilled and neither are Blackhawk/transport chopper operators or the gunners on those. I still believe vehicles both on ground and in the air are in a fairly bad spot in this game. If they introduced for example stinger launchers then maybe those should be very limited in numbers and only usable by engineer or something. And the helicopters should perhaps also get a few flares or whatever to counter this. Otherwise 99% of them will get shot ouf of the air instantly and no one will use them anymore except the 1% extreme skillers.
The other option may be semi-automated AA systems triggered by SLs or some new, dedicated commander class like it works in Rising Storm 2 for example. But if those players suck then no AA for you. The way SLs are randomly assigned to even the worst of noobs I wouldn't count on those providing any AA support, it's bad enough you have to beg for some rally points over and over again in squads sometimes swimming in 1-2k+ points.
