Cheating has been incredibly damaging to the EA Battlefield series over the years, and honestly they've never solved the problem, so it's worth taking tough stances and making big decisions regarding the problem.
Wish I could remember the video on the subject, but it shows there's some FREAKY anti cheat tech out there these days, AI powered stuff.
Not gonna lie, i don't feel like any of these cheaters have ruined my games (i don't even know if they killed me even once) but it's probably only going to get worse as time goes by. Fortunately, devs are aware of the situation and they plan to make things better. But, unfortunately, they plan on doing so by using faceit, which means all linux/steam deck users won't be able to play the game anymore, and there isn't even a warning in the store page. Which means they bought the game and they will loose the ability to play it. That's f*cked up.
I know about faceit because i come to the forums from time to time but i know a lot of people who don't go to forums or whatever and they just play the game they bought. What are they gonna do when devs are gonna take away from them their ability to play the game they bought ?
People who say that there are no cheaters, are just out of touch or trolling.
Give us all the root kit anti cheats, add ping limits, block VPNs, region lock China and Russia, I don't care anymore, it just sucks right now.
Losing Linux support though is something I'm not cool with.
I can understand why they don't want to use EAC though, EAC alone can be bypassed easily, it needs to be used in conjunction with another anti-cheat.
Epic Games got around this issue with EAC by combining it with BattlEye.
They then ban the hardware the user was using as well as the user, unsure whether BattleBit is capable of this yet.
I presume you've likely seen FaceIt as an all-in-one solution which is cheaper to license and integrate. FaceIt have came out and said they have no plans to support any OS other than Windows.
This means any game that implements FaceIt anti-cheat cannot be classed as Playable on Steam Deck.
The Suadi links are moot as EAC has links to Tencent and the Chinese government so both of them follow anti-consumer practices.
Most people don't understand this game and play it like call of duty and when they get killed running around they scream cheater ! classic...
I will definitely play more if faceit servers becomes a thing. This game is booming why can't they have regular servers and faceit ones? Then gamers who would prefer that extra security can choose accordingly.
If the BattleBit devs don't tackle this issue soon it good fail the game just as quick it's gained popularity.
Sup holmes. While you're here. How long before you dudes sell out to the BIG MONNNEY of microtransactionfests?
