Honestly though if FaceIT cannot stop the cheater than this game will have much less players in short space of time.
Probably will see if I can refund. I like the game but not enough to boot windows on a regular basis! I do feel they should have done more server side checks to stop this problem. Still small team overrun with success.
It's really sad that games keep using these awful anti-cheats, especially this game.
Yeah 100%. I think there has been titles which use EAC that don't support linux that could but don't bother - then there is titles which have EAC and work with Linux. Some of the recent Warhammer games spring to mind. FaceIT does run in Linux.
Its insane what is going on over in Windows land though with people essentially opting to install kernel level spyware on their machines while developers seem too lazy to develop server side checks. Meanwhile Linux is perfect for single player games and self hosted games and the open source nature of the code allows for checks and balances.
Personally though I think the game is doomed to cheaters even with FaceIT if the developers cannot implement their own server checks.
I cannot be bothered dying on a hill worth £12 but I will be trying to get a refund if I cannot run the game in Linux.
People using Windows as their main operating system is already insane to me. At this point, it doesn't really surprise me to learn that people are more than willing to install rootkits for a false sense of security against hackers.
